LEIPZIG, Germany — Park Ji-sung scored the tying goal in the 81st minute, helping South Korea hold France to a 1-1 draw Sunday in Group G of the World Cup.

Park poked the ball over France goalkeeper Fabien Barthez and out of the reach of defender William Gallas, who tried to clear the ball before it crossed the goal line.

Thierry Henry gave France the lead in the ninth minute with his 34th international goal.

Henry profited from a favourable bounce after Sylvain Wiltord's blocked shot fell into his path. He took a stride and coolly slotted past goalkeeper Lee Woon-jae for France's first World Cup goal since it won the 1998 final.

Henry also missed a chance to score another when goalkeeper Lee Woon-jae saved his shot.

South Korea leads Group G with four points from two matches, with France in second place with two points. Third-place Switzerland has one point and plays Togo on Monday.

South Korea coach Dick Advocaat played with a 4-3-3 formation, and recalled Kim Nam-il to his midfield.

Defender Lilian Thuram equalled Marcel Desailly's record of 116 appearances for France.

There were tones of koreans downtown with red shirts, korean flags, and white inflatable rods with Korean Air on them. It was actually terrifying
