I generally do one set of 50 every day. Keep in mind it's not so much about the quantity as it is about the quality though... It's better to do less push-ups perfectly and slowly (it kills to do it slowly- but that's the point isn't it?) than a lot quickly and/or sluggishly. Anyway I can do more or less 60-80 push-ups before muscle failure, me thinks.

i can do 50 straight (boy push ups) but then after that i need a serious break! im not allowed to do chick push ups, coach would kick me in the tucus!

If just going for pure speed, and propper pushups? 10.
It's not meant to be the quantity of the pushups you can do...
It's an actual fact that slower pushups, if you do them correctly, will giev your muscles more of a burn, rather than quick, sharp push ups. (:
In 10 seconds you should be doing 4-8 deep push ups.
If your going for just pure speed, then... have fun... but it doesn't work as well...
Going into the bottom state of the pushup, and then hold it for two seconds, then going back up is alot harder than doing mass-amounts of quick pushups. *shrug*

This is very true. If going for strength, technique is key. Medium speed and smooth reps are what you want. However:
If your going for just pure speed, then... have fun... but it doesn't work as well...

The hold at the bottom is tough but doesn't really gain you much. That's like a pause at the bottom of a bench press rep: it's cool, but unnecessary. Just ensuring that the rep is smooth, deliberate, and gets a full range of motion is really all that you need.
Anyways, I'll answer the question of this thread sometime when I haven''t just finished a chest workout. :P

After four try I can make it 20. So for me my final count is 20. Actually push ups are the thing which can stretch your chest and the tri-shapes. So I love this exercise.

I do 1 set of 20, 2 sets of 15 and 3 sets of 10 every alternate day. In a ten second time, I can atleast do 3-5 counts.
