I've never experienced this to a significant degree - it's usually the exact opposite in my case, the need to be alone - but I have spoken to many people who claim to feel this way. It can certainly be an inconvenience. But you're not alone.
Is there a particular reason you can pinpoint to for how this may have developed? Or is it a sensation that cannot quite be explained?

The need to be alone, do you think that comes from variable change? I know during bouts of depression, I've often wanted to be alone. I've cut off from people and overall much preferred my own company.
I was 'diagnosed' by a general practioner as an agoraphobic last summer. The key thing there, was a general practioner, not a specialist or any form of psychologist/psychiatrist. It was a misdiagnosis, but to be fair I could see why. I have two relatives that have struggled with agoraphobia, one still does. I know it must be extremely hard to deal with, even attending a job or continuing education must be very daunting. Even going out of the house, really.
To end on a positive note, I was doing some reading recently and read from some articles that around 90% of agoraphobics make a full recovery. There is hope, even if there doesn't seem like it now. :)

I have sort of a similar thing but the need to be alone, I get so angry that i'm about to crack and I know that i'm about to rage out at somebody... If you go to school and it effects you in some way what I did was tell my teachers so that if I ever felt like this that I could just ask to get a "drink of water", I trained myself to say these words only when I was feeling angry because anything else I would have said would have caused me to either cry or pent out my rage on my surroundings.
Could help you, doubt it :P.
