Something like iPhoto's and Lightroom's bastard child would be great.

I'm a Macfag btw. The Snagit beta is out so I'm trying that.

I'm looking for more of an organization program too. I already use Gimp for editing but want a place to put them rather than just in a folder.

Who don't you organize it all your self with folders and sub folders, it's not that difficult, it's free and it works :-)

As said before, use GIMP. it is awesome and is the only reason I still wouldn't get Photoshop even if it was cheap. You can use PS brushes etc in GIMP as well.

EDIT: Oops, didn't realise you already use GIMP.

2nd. ( and I'm probably wrong since I never even seen a mac ) When you plug in the Camera something should pop up that lets you drag the pictures to other folders

That's what happens of the school Macs.

I think there is another program called ACDsee. Helps you edit a bit, it is not free I think. It organizes files and what not too.

Google's Picasa is great for organizing your photo's.
