Not my fault they're bad :P. I just can never get into them, yet they have the nerves to call themselves "progressive" rock. Pfft, I find hear things in the toilet. :P

The new album isn't all that bad, but with most other Gorillaz albums, you need to listen to it a few times for it to really grow on you. They obviously won't reach the popularity they had with "Demon Days" or "Feel Good Inc.", but it's a start.

You forgot about Metallica and the Big 4! Anyway my hate list: Tokio Hotel, MCR, P!ATD, Most nu metal bands, Any rap released after 1999, any pop, I did like You Me At Six but the amount of fangirls that finger themselves to them when they don't even like the music pisses me off, Metallica when they released shit like Load, Reload, St Anger (Death Magnetic was awesome), I fucking HATE with a passion Nickelback. I hope that prick Chad Kroeger and his untalented band mates either die very painfully or lose all their tools for fans. Especially Chad. Moving on... The Maine, The Cab (apart from their Disturbia cover, it's awesome), Any RN'B artist especially JLS, any 15 year old who makes wanky gangster rap like this (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZDiIg05i7Go), Justin 'voice hasn't broken and sings like a 5 year old' Bieber :mad::mad:, Lil Wayne (he FAILS at guitar), Kanye West.
I have many more that I have forgotten but this will do for now.

Yeah, for good reason. Most 80s albums, with the exceptions of Metallica and the Big 4 (one of which, Scorpions, was more Glam Rock), were all the pop synth bubble gum you hear today. Granted, some of the pop was good pop, but not all. Nice point out about Death Magnetic, but I liked Load a lot.

When I said you forgot about them I meant that they were in the 80s as well so it wasn't all bad. I should have said it clearer. 'Tallica is my favourite band anyway. Slayer are good as well. Oh and the Big 4 is 'tallica, Megadeth, Slayer and Anthrax (all the big thrash metal bands). I don't know where you got Scorpions from! (Rock You Like A Hurricane is awesome).
More shit bands: neversaynever, All Time (B)Low, Lostprophets, Good Charlotte, We The Kings, Linkin Park (Dead by Sunrise is a good band though), 30 STM, Enter Shikari, Escape the Fate (new one with Craig. Ronnie owns him), Justin Timberlake, Britney Spears, Miley Cyrus, Ke$ha, Taylor Swift, Coldplay (dreary pop shite), U2, new Kings of Leon (new album is shite, first three were a revelation), Green Day, blink-182 LIVE (studio is awesome), Gallows, Oasis, Radiohead.

Scorpions were like an outspoken part of the Big 4. They were considered trash back in the 80s, but are pretty much Glam now. Never really liked them that much. All I really know is that they were at the Roger Waters Berlin 1990 show to celebrate the falling of the Berlin Wall (they performed the first and second parts of "In the Flesh" off "The Wall").

Ok, Green Day are OK but 21st Century Breakdown really is shit. Nimrod and American Idiot are good enough albums though (Hitchin a ride is a great song). Isn't Dookie the one with Basket Case? Oh and yes, Oasis were (they split up) shit. Only good song was Wonderwall and that is very overrated. Their last album was fail. Oh, Liam Gallagher is a c*nt as well.

How is 21st Century Breakdown any different from American Idiot? I mean lyrics wise, not music wise. I find the albums very similar to lyrics, but the music seems to a bit unlike them; where as on American Idiot, they portray a heavier style than what they used to be. Yes, I think Dookie has Basket Case on it, but I'm not sure since I haven't listened to the album in a few years.

First off you need to understand that hip hop is and was and is one of the last voices for oppressed young black and latino people. For many it was an escape from a life of poverty and crime that they were born with. Due to record labels who altered some forms of hip hop for mainstream appeal this view has been tainted. But you need to look past the radio, mtv and the evil that is b.e.t. to realize this.
Ok now let's get into this.
1. Anyone can make up a rap song and scratch a record.
I guarantee you if you had the best equipment available that you would not be able to make ONE song. It's okay if you don't like hip hop but you are completely disrespecting the time practice and effort that it takes to produce hip hop songs. There is a very difficult art to sampling records and mixing beats and that’s only half of what it takes to make songs. Also, there are countless DJs and producers that know how to make their own music without sampling records.
# 2. Most rap songs are about violence, drugs, and other bad stuff in the world and how to do it. While on the other hand, rock, metal, whatever sings about violence, drugs, and other bad stuff, but they tell you how to deal with them.
I'm not gonna deny that there is a lot of crappy artists nowadays that glorify that sht and it pisses me off. But if you look at a good amount of violent 'gangsta' rappers(especially from the 80s and 90s) you'll will see that the lyrics are a reflection of their environment and these actions are not portrayed in a positive manner. For example in their songs they'll talk about the struggles they are going through and the consequences of the dumb sht that they done in their lives as impoverished black youth. And these are just the violent ones!! I have a 50gig itunes library full off positive and intelligent hip hop artists.
# 3. All rap songs sound alike. Enough said.
..smh
# 4. What is one of the best things at a metal concert? A MOSH PIT!!! If you even attempt to start a mosh pit at a rap concert, you have a better chance surviving a Mexican Firing Squad then you do surviving a shot from the person next to you.
Hip hop concerts get pretty live…maybe not as crazy as a mosh pit(which is stupid if u ask me). And I don’t take many things personal but thinking that everyone at a hip hop concert will shoot you was very offensive.
# 5. Who cares how much ice you got or who your dogs are?
Well, I gotta agree with you here.
# 6. Rap Sucks becuase rappers sing about how they represent the west side and how he should "bust a cap" on all the east side niggas
the east coast-west coast feud was something that lasted only like 2 yrs in the 30+ year history of hip hop…probably before you were even born
# 7. Ever been to a rap concert? Hundreds of police around, and your getting frisked worse then a white house intern
I've been to plenty, but I doubt you have so why would you make assumption like that. I think you're confusing that with a night club.
# 8. Everyone that listens to rap are posers. They do not make their own trends, they only follow them. Everyone that listens to rap dresses alike (FuBu cloths, yankees cap, etc.), and talks alike (wazzup dawg, nigga, etc.)
Wow, that's a low blow especially considering that hip hop has started a lot of the trends(fashion, music ,art, ideologies) in mainstream america for the last 3 decades.
Bottom Line before you completely diss a culture you should know a little bit more about it. A lot of people that like other genres of the late 20th early 21st century have reaped the benefits of what hip hop has paved in the music industry (well, the whole world for that matter) without giving it proper respect.

You know what else takes skill? Making a little rap like that sound so white. I'd like to see you try and make a four minute rap song with a really fast beat all on improv. It's a talent, a very good one at that.
# 2. Most rap songs are about violence, drugs, and other bad stuff in the world and how to do it. While on the other hand, rock, metal, whatever sings about violence, drugs, and other bad stuff, but they tell you how to deal with them.
Name me at least 10 rock songs where they talk about problems and how to deal with them? Because I really got to hear that. Lyrical content has nothing to do with the music. The music is the music.
# 3. All rap songs sound alike. Enough said.So do most other bands in today's music business. Enough said.
# 4. What is one of the best things at a metal concert? A MOSH PIT!!! If you even attempt to start a mosh pit at a rap concert, you have a better chance surviving a Mexican Firing Squad then you do surviving a shot from the person next to you.Fans are fans, you can't deny that. When you deal with a metal fan, you're dealing with a metal fan. When you deal with a rap fan, you're dealing with a rap fan. All in all, it makes no difference, they are both fans at the end of the day.
# 5. Who cares how much money you got or how much swagga you have?Rule 20. You broke it.
# 6. Rap Sucks becuase rappers sing about how they represent the west side and how he should "bust a cap" on all the east side niggasYou do realize that west and east coast gangs down right hate each other...right? It's a popular thing and popular things GET ATTENTION. In this case, they are featured in rap songs.
# 7. Ever been to a rap concert? Hundreds of police around, and your getting frisked worse then a white house internBack in the 1990s, Metallica held a concert in Montreal at the Olympic Stadium. The fans became so rowdy that all around the stadium and stores surrounding. A few people were killed, dozens were injured. July 2nd, 1977: Last Pink Floyd concert of the Animals Tour. Roger Waters, frustrated with a fan in front row, spits in his face in Montreal at Olympic Stadium.

I'm not going to retype what I wrote up the other day, so here's a quote of something I wrote for another forum.
Anyone who's ever briefly spoken to me on the subject of music should have a basic idea of how expansive my taste is. There's a lot of extremely different things I adore, and more importantly, a lot of extremely dense people who make me want bash my head upon piano keys. Two particular traits above all else bother me in people:
1) Stupidity. This cannot be cured.
2) Ignorance. This can be cured.
This'll be the first of brief rants on a series I'll be doing, entitled "A Few Words on Ignorance". Today's subject? Rap and hip-hop as music genres. It bothers me to no end that people can show such rage and hatred towards things they've not fairly looked at nor given a chance. Among many incredibly stupid comments I've heard, some popular ones include:
Rap takes no talent, it's nothing but people talking fast.. I find it particularly amusing that most people saying this are teenagers who can't articulate their thoughts out of a paper bag nor anunciate to save their lives. Listen to a rap song. Try repeating everything you hear with rhythm. Now try making something of equal value and complexity off the top of your head. Make it up as you go along. Have fun with that.
-and-
It's all about gangs, violence, sex, and money. This statement is, actually, completely and 100% true. Only if we're talking about the shit they spew out on the radio, of course. If you look around, and bother listening, you can find a lot of amazing songs on things both thought-provoking (political, philosophical, and religious, oh my!) and mundane (see: platypus).
I've not a whole lot more to say on this topic. I feel a couple videos would speak volumes more of the quality of the genre than anything I can pull out of my ass at the moment. I freely welcome anyone to challenge my opinion of rap and hip-hop's legitimacy as genres. If you simply don't like the sound, fine. I can't argue with that. Who the fuck is bill? And yes, I do hate disturbed and korn also. The only nu-metal band i really like is Otep, mainly because she has guts to sing about heavy stuff.
Bill is the lead for tokio hotel and I only know that because one of my friends is obsessed. He also looks like a girl.
Also, You like Otep, I like you. :)
Miley/Hannah Montanna: OH MY GOD my ears are going to BLEED if I hear her again. Overmarketed with voice-altering softwear does not make good pop.
Justin Biber: Nuff said. Really. 15 wangster trying to be so cool.
Ke$ha: First off, don't spell your name with a $. Second, if you think you're cool, don't sing about letting guys take advantage of you when you're smashed.
Eminem-and-the-like: I'm not dissing rap as a whole.[rap in rock or metal can be good] I DON'T like the people who decide they can't do anything else, so they rap about how cool ghetto life is. It's lame, really.
Most other music I dislike it's because I just don't care for how the music [not singer] is played, or find the over-hype of it annoying.
[by the way, you might not like slipknot, but you have to admit this video is cool http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ppoo1EJ-Vrc (Vermillion) she looks like a fucking barbie doll i'm fascinated]

You know what else takes skill? Making a little rap like that sound so white. I'd like to see you try and make a four minute rap song with a really fast beat all on improv. It's a talent, a very good one at that.
Name me at least 10 rock songs where they talk about problems and how to deal with them? Because I really got to hear that. Lyrical content has nothing to do with the music. The music is the music.
So do most other bands in today's music business. Enough said.
Fans are fans, you can't deny that. When you deal with a metal fan, you're dealing with a metal fan. When you deal with a rap fan, you're dealing with a rap fan. All in all, it makes no difference, they are both fans at the end of the day.
Rule 20. You broke it.
You do realize that west and east coast gangs down right hate each other...right? It's a popular thing and popular things GET ATTENTION. In this case, they are featured in rap songs.
Back in the 1990s, Metallica held a concert in Montreal at the Olympic Stadium.
Now you're just stereotyping. Everyone speaks that way, where have you been? It's a lot better than metal fans courting around long hair .
Funny, since this doesn't affect rap music as a whole.
Congratulations on making the obvious pointed out.
I'm not even going to try on this one.

But, that's just me :D.
Looking back, you have to admit that Grunge was popular at the time of Nirvana and they were one of the biggest bands in the world. They still are, but I will give it to you that Cobain is overrated. His voice is just like that of any Grunge singer: Very rough and edgy, what more could you expect? Even on softer songs like "Polly" and "Something in the Way", you can tell his voice was specifically Grunge. The music does seem to repeat in away, especially on their album Nevermind, but I take a listen to their music and always try to find something new, like what was Grohl doing here or what was Cobain's influence when making this guitar riff...things like that. You have to look past the music and look into the music.
You still haven't explained how they an abomination to music. Moreover, look at the movement they started. Nirvana was a huge leader not only in the Grunge era, but they still are a major influence of most bands/artists out there today. They're like Journey or Michael Jackson...that influence will always be there for every generation to use. Most people believe that many overrated - or even if they aren't overrated - bands are abominations to music. But don't deny that they are serving a purpose in this industry to be successful like everyone else. I'm not going to say, "LOL you try to do better fag and see where you end up", but what I will say is this: You can say how much you hate them all you want, but you can never say that a band like Nirvana doesn't still make an impact on today's music industry professionals.

Kurt Cobain was trying to put the "Noise" factor inside his music, kind of what Sonic Youth did. It seems like he wasn't just aiming for the Grunge genre, but more of that noise rock.

I actually think Tre is great at what he does. That big powerful sound he can draw out of his drums is like the Green Day "sound" of sorts. The cool thing about Green Day is that they've been mainstream, but still retain that popularity as an "off the road" sort of band.

I'll agree and disagree with this statement. Elvis is overrated, though I do like some of his songs. Saying that he was far from being the "King of Rock" is a lie. If it weren't for Elvis, the rock genre would have been on the back burner. He brought a new twist to music, and if you look at the time he recorded and played, he was completely revolutionary and taboo to listen to. An amazing artists though he was, saying that he wasn't a "King of Rock" is an ignorant understatement.

I listen to his music and find that he actually made country rock, called Rockabilly at the time, and I think it's great. He had a big country background, so blending that into rock music was just an ingenious idea at the time. It may not seem like that now, but definitely it was back then.

BrokeNCYDE
I’m Not A Fan But The Kids Like It! by Brokencyde is a whole album of songs like “I’m On a Boat”, but they blend it with screamo. And it’s not funny. Or good. At all. - Ryan Cooper
Two words: shit sandwich. I’ve always wanted to have a legitimate excuse to reference Spinal Tap.
But seriously, this is fucking awful. I listened to maybe 1 minute at maximum on all of these songs because if I tried to sit through them any harder, I don’t think I’d be able to live with myself. brokeNCYDE can’t possibly take themselves seriously, so I’m assuming they’re well prepared for a slew of reviews that are (ahem) “unfavorable,” to say the least. -Spineleague
I’m not prone to hyperbole so take this as gospel: even if I caught Prince Harry and Gary Glitter adorned in Nazi regalia defecating through my grandmother’s letterbox I would still consider making them listen to this album too severe a punishment. And she’s just had new carpets put in. BrokeNCYDE – a crunk/gangsta/screamo/R&B hybrid – should be respected and feared in the same way that Captain Kirk respects and fears the Klingons, which is why I’m firing intergalactic blue nuclear death straight at their fat fucking faces. It’s like having an Auto-Tuned, crack-addled Cher with a hard-on bearing down on you singing, “Let’s get freaky”. -NME Reviews

I hate Vanilla Ice, because he's a fucking wannabe. And I hate any country singers, because, well.....country sucks.
Most of all, I hate Justin Beiber, because, simply put, he sucks.
Music.

I think we can all agree that Nickelback, Shinedown and Disturbed are all horribly unartistic...

I CANNOT stand:
The Beatles I ABSOLUTELY HATE THEM. They are THE MOST overrated band EVER
AC/DC They are no where near overrated as the previous above, but they are still overrated as well. There are only a few select songs that I can listen to
Nirvana I don't need to explain do I? Oh, Alice In Chains >>> Nirvana =)
I think we can all agree that Nickelback, Shinedown and Disturbed are all horribly unartistic...
ARE YOU SERIOUS? Disturbed? No they are way more artistic than you can hope to be.
Nickelback was good when they were first out and with some of their other albums, but they died right after For All The Right Reasons
