Satellite view of OVI maps

Can anyone give me some advice about the Satellite view (and even terrain view) of ovi maps. I've got version 3.03 (but the problem existed in the previous 3.01) on today - which currently looks nice and works better, but when I select satellite view (map displayed -> press Cogs -> press Satellite View) the map view is replaced block by block by a repeated patteren of green stripes. And the map for my area only marks streets and nothing else, so I can't find my school.

Is this the expected behaviour, or should I be seeing a proper satellite image? I have left the phone (N97) displaying the map for about an hour hoping that perhaps the map would get updated or loaded, but so far only 16kb has been downloaded.

The OVI map software came already installed onto my phone.

The green stripes result is the same regardless of whether drive mode or walk mode is used.

Am I doing anything wrong? I'm pretty pissed about this satellite view not working.

Is there perhaps a better GPS map application out there somewhere that I can download for free?

That seems like it's expected behavior for OVI maps (I was getting that on the desktop app as well)

As far as other GPS applications, you can use Google Maps or Bing for Mobile.
Both support GPS, and both have highly detailed maps that you can zoom all the way in on.
