I'm normally a linux user, but I use vista on my workstation as most everything I use for school is win only. I wonder though, is a Windows 7 upgrade worth it, or just a pretty vista? If my computer is running fine with vista, will there be any major differences if I upgrade to 7?
Your thoughts on 7 please.

Well first of all windows vista has quite a lot of capibility problems, especially with win xp programs.
Second it is slower than both operating systems, it has been tested
So yes i would upgrade and i did(im typing this on win 7 right now)but i upgraded from xp.

Windows 7 has been a god-send compared to Vista.
Vista would freeze my computer up and make it re-start itself,
Win 7 has yet to disappoint me, never had a freeze up with it yet.
And it has some pretty neat programs that come with it,
I'm addicted to the Sticky-Notes and Snipping Tool programs.
The upgrade may have cost $100, but it was worth it to me.
And it's more customizable and works faster as well.

one of my favourite things about 7 is that they finally updated the old programs like paint,no longer need a larg paint.net download

Best Operating System released by Microsoft, its basically Windows XP, with Vistas GUI. I would jump for 7, I haven't had any troubles with it at all, when you upgrade things should load faster and your computer should run better.

Definitly upgrade, i was using XP and Vista home basic, both crappy operating systems. But windows 7 hasnt failed me yet, other than an activation issue (I was using Enterprise edition, provided by my school, then upgraded to Ultimate)

Since the update, the computer has ran beautifully, and the start bar is a lot more attractive persay =]. Can't use the themes and patches I used in vista though which blows. And the upgrade took about 5 hours O_O.

Windows 7 is the best thing that happened to my computer. Not only is it faster, but its more capable of doing things. The only downside to it, is that some programs are not yet adapted to work on W7.
