My question to you guys is:
Do you think teens should be allowed to babysit? Why/Why not?
I've babysat since I was 13, and have always done a really good jobs.
What about everyone else's babysitting experiences?

It depends on the parents. Some parents would rather have an adult watch their children. Mostly for trust and responsibility issues.
But I see no problem with teenagers babysitting. If they enjoy children, they should have a great time doing it. Probably make some pocket money too.

Depends on how the teenager is with kids.

depends on the teenager i think. You wouldnt want someone overly agressive or someone who might invite a bunch of friends over to smoke pot lol

It depends on who the teen is, whether or not they can be trusted, and if they're responsible.
I've seen some great teen babysitters.
And some terrible ones, one babysitter that I remember from when I need a babysitter so very long ago :P
They would invite their boyfriend over and yeah lol ignore us.

I have a feeling 'ignore' doesn't cover it. lol
I never invite friends over, well sometimes i do, but only if it's the two brother 9 and 5 both ADHD, I need help dealing with them sometimes. o.o

Help? More like taking over for about 15min, so I don't kill the kids. XD
2 brothers that both have ADHD and hate each are hard to deal with.

I used to look after my step brother when I was like, 9/10 years old, he has ADHD, and I have ADHD too.
Now that's hard work!
But, actually, to be honest, for me, it wasn't that hard.
We kept occupied... he wasn't "bad" or anything, he was actually quite well behaved with me, compared to how he was with my step mother & biological father.
They don't parent him well, at all.
People just need to be patient and calm, but firm if need be.

I haven't babysat much per say, only when my cousin (she lives very close) was baby-sitting and asked me to come over, either to help or to give her a short break of baby-sitting. I see nothing wrong with teenagers baby-sitting providing they are responsible, will not begin throwing parties while baby-sitting, good with kids and if needed, has some cooking ability. By cooking ability, I don't mean preparing a five-course gourmet but rather cooking something basic if the parents are out during the evening and the kid is hungry wanting food. For this reason, I don't say I think all teenagers are suitable because I'm sure everyone can think of at least one person in their age group whom they know would not be. I can think of at least several for various reasons, even ones who are around 18-19 years old. So I vote it depends on the teenager.

i think so, but it relaly depends on the teen, it wiould also be a great expeirence for them. Teach them life skills and such.
i've babysitted sister, neighbors, dogs, cousin, sister and her friends.

Depends on the teen as most seem to be saying. Personally I'm better at taking care of my baby brother then my mom is but a lot of guys aren't.

There can be irresponsible adults out there too. It's not like teens are the only ones who aren't responsible. I think teen babysitters are good. I used to have one when I was younger and he was incredibly nice and mature. But then again, he was older(around 18 or 19), and was obviously babysitting for a long time. As long as you have trust in the person you're handing your kids too, there should be no problem. However, if you know that person (in this case, a teenager) has a bad track record, then don't bother.

It makes sense to me to only ever let people you know and trust look after your kids. An agency babysitter for my kids would be out of the question! I'd much rather it be someone I know even if they were relatively young I.e. Teens

Depends on the individual. Technically I was sexually abused by my babysitter.

I think it depends. There are plenty of teens that I think could be good as a babysitter, but some teens however, I think, are quite simply incapable, or uncaring.

i think it depends on the kid as well as the teen. if it's a high maintenance kid then the teen should be highly trained and experienced. if they are 12 or under then the teen should be rather older. and if the teen knows CPR that is a plus.

That sounds..like a pain. lol
CPR was annoying.
The guy was like "Call for help."
I pick up my cellphone
Him "No you have to yell."
Me " but I have a cell"
Him"What if you don't have it with you"
Me "I ALWAYS have it with me."
