The sister and the solvents

So I just recently found out my sister has been abusing solvents quite regularly for like a month. And yes I know all the implications of this but I'd still like help:

How can I help her to stop? Even if she doesn't want me to?

And I know it can kill and leave brain/organ tissue damage....but how and why?

If you want to get her to quit, you should start by sitting down and having a frank and in-depth conversation with her: tell her how much it is worrying you and how much it would worry other people if they found out. Tell her how harmful it could be.

There are normally two main reasons as to why people do any form of mind altering drug (be it legal or illegal): because there is something in life which they feel they can't cope with and need to escape or they want to use them for social / personal benefits. Try finding out from her which one of them it is and make sure she knows that she can talk to you whenever she wants etc etc.

The way in which it kills brain tissues is quite similar to a lot of other things, in layman's terms it stops enough oxygen from being able to travel in the blood stream to cells which need it (the O2 can't properly attach to the haemoglobin which = cells not being able to respire = cells dying).

I know what it can do i'd just like to know why really.

And thanks everyone, she just says she just wanted to do it... How else can I make her stop? I've told her everything it can do incl. immediate death but it's like she doesn't even want to stop. And giving up is obv NOT AN OPTION!

Have you tried spending time with her? Maybe if you guys hang out with each other, it might make her stop. Maybe you can talk to her, during this time. It could be going out to eat, or going shopping there has to be something you guys can do together in which you can talk to her, at the same time, doing something which might make her see how much you care about her.
