Go back to windows 2000, really! It is good, but it doesn't have fancy GUI like vista and win7.
Better yet, get back to windowsXP. Best ever OS man.
If you don't like the old things here, then go ahead and buy your Windows7
4GB with a win2K.....dangerous monster.

Windows 7 is great but I'm still using XP at home though I use 7 at my work place.
One of the main reason is because XP or 2000 can only recognize up to 3GB of RAM. Windows 7 can go beyond that.

Xp is better in my opinion. Go for W7 if you want something more modern though.

Windows 7 is probably the second best OS Microsoft have released behind XP, Windows 7 is basically Windows XP but with a different Graphical User Interface. It is more user friendly, and has a few more features than XP.
You will also know notice that the performance is better in Windows 7.
Windows 2000 is to old to get back onto, I think they are going to cut support to it in 2013.

I had XP, and that was enough for me. If you can afford it, I am going to be the one to recommend Mac products. Vista and its issues never really appealed to me after the issues I had with XP, and I had an iMac before Windows 7. I now have a MacBook Pro also, and both are MUCH faster and more stable than any PC I have ever used.

xp is good, win7 i hear is good. i dont use win7. i have vista and its crap. microsofts biggest fail ever. like they heard apple was releasing leopard so they rushed to finish vista after years of development. they rushed the development and screwed up and should have taken their time. then vista would have been a lot better. but no, microsoft wants to meet apples standards and dates for competition, so they rushed it. all because of leopard. i would get a mac, mac mini if you just want to switch, because is so stable. my ibook g4 has leopard and not one crash yet. snow leopard is even better. but that is my opinion.

Actually XP only recognize 2gb of ram.
Actually, XP can recognize & use up to 4GB of total system memory (Any mixture of RAM, VRAM, & XRAM). http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/aa366778(VS.85).aspx#physical_memory_limits_windows_xp
But the type of hardware & the hardware limitations can lower that amount.
