A while back I came across something that is unforgivable...a poorly written love letter. The act of writing a letter has gone the way of the dodo due to email and text messaging. Back in the day, letters were a form of expressive literature. Arthur Rimbaud is possibly more famous for his letters than his poetry or prose. However, even today, every now and then I see an email that I can appreciate. So what I want is for people to post any emails that they have written or received which they thought were a cut above the rest to remind us that there is nothing quite like a well written letter.

Here is the one I will post.

"It's been a rough couple of weeks up here. I can only hope things are going better for you.

I had a dream about two little kids, a boy and a girl. The girl lived by a lake and they played together on the dock. The girl was an adventurer. She was obsessed with exploring the lake and the hills. She was also a romantic and craved the struggle for love. The boy just wanted to sit on the dock with his toes in the water. He said 'If I wanted to be a hero like Odysseus I would have to chain a heavy rock to my leg and swim across this entire lake just to hope to see the girl I loved. Or I could sit next to her with my toes in the water.'

I used to want to be a hero. But I don't think I do anymore. I want to get away from all the struggling in a non-heroic way and find a place to sit with my toes in the water next to a cute girl. Nietzsche be damned. I'll take tranquility over suffering."
