The dilemma, all original PS3's are now paperweights due to some error with the leap year. Once they hit February 29th (March 1st in reality) they just seize up.

So while exchanging some games for store credit I heard some talk of all PS3's "bricking". I said mine was fine, so of course it must be the date. I got home, turned it on, looked at my date setting and to my amazement it was set to 2/28/10 5:17 PM. I sneaked in by under 7 hours. I'm tempted to call them and thank them for saving my life as we know it.

Just for good measure the date on my PS3 is now 1/18/2006. You can't be too careful.

I turned my 80GB BC Motorostorm PS3 on to back it up after hearing about this, and I was immediately signed out of PSN and the date on the PS3 was 12/31/1999. I turned off and back on again, and the date and PSN were fine. Its currently backing up though just to be safe.

oh yeah, a friend told me that any unsynced trophys WILL be lost.

That's been fixed, now. It's not as common. But now all of us fanboys, except for the computer and Wii, and can talk trash about faulty design. :P

My 360(s) never broke from RROD, just the laser has broken twice for me, which is odd.

That's been fixed, now. It's not as common. But now all of us fanboys, except for the computer and Wii, and can talk trash about faulty design. :P

My 360(s) never broke from RROD, just the laser has broken twice for me, which is odd.

Of course it's been fixed. It stated happening like what, a year ago? No doubt this will be old news quickly.

I merely brought up a counter-flaw. If I could have a 360 I would love to. But I don't/didn't have the money so I get a PS3. It just interested me more. Anyway, enough of this nonsense.

no, i have never had a problem with my xbox at all, and i know that ps3's are more reliable, but i also know that microsoft isnt dumb enough to think 2010 is a leap year.

this is why we pay £30 a year for xbox live. but now all is fine with my ps3 yay!! now i can go play heavy rain what a game that is!!

The problem had nothing to do with the PSN, it was a hardware problem with the PS3.

Well now we know PS3's for a fact have a widespread hardware problem! Tied for Xbox vs. PS3....cept Xbox still wins :D
