When their 13th-floor apartment began to shake, Alberto Rozas pulled his 7-year-old daughter into the bathroom doorway and waited for it to stop.

Instead, they fell.

Thirteen stories they plummeted as their brand-new apartment building toppled like a felled tree, hugging each other all the way down.

Well, there's a lot of stuff under the 13th story of a 15 story building. There's a lot of mass beneath you that will slow your fall. The main danger are the two floors about you. If that falls on you you're done for. They were quite lucky indeed.

Now those were lucky. but the other 700 people dead didnt get as lucky. =[

Yeah, but you also have to think:
13 floors of: metal poles, sharp metal, electrical items and ect.
