I figure this is the right place for this.
So my computer stumbled across this lovely thing known as Antivirus 2010, it's not a real anti-virus and it launches up every time I open Mozilla Firefox. It's root program is av.exe, however, I cannot find it when I do Search.
It used to be in the Prefetch folder, which is not the ACTUAL file.
So av.exe is located somewhere, and is being triggered by mozilla firefox.
my anti-virus / firewall / anti-Everything = AVG 8.0
What I would like to know is how one would block a process using AVG's firewall. I want to block av.exe if I can, and I would also like to track down the root folder and delete it, but I cannot find it. So any assistance would be appreciated. If you need any further information, just ask.

AVG should be able to track that virus and delete it for you.

I could not find it on search either, mine was Vista
C:/your username/AppData/Local It sould be @ the bottom if u delete it though problems start to happen,It killed every .exe file.( I was almost at the point of a fresh install of Win)
You have been to PB I am guessing.I got hit with it twice.I did a system restore IN SAFE MODE the first & second time.Hell i've I got 2 firewalls & adblockerplus and I'm scared of PB. Luckly I had a backup computer to google my problems.
Search google(if you can) for av.exe pirate bay info about the problem now.
If you don't have system restore then i'm not sure.

Its a form of malware that's installed itself from a webpage i would think. It would be better to delete it than block it. But if you just want to block it, try going into your security tab in the control panel and checking out the programs that are allowed through your firewall. However, if you wish to delete it, Try starting your computer in safe mode, and looking for it then and possibly try to scan using avg. If this fails, try doing a system restore to before the AV installed itself. To try and identify the root folder, download Hijack this (http://free.antivirus.com/hijackthis/), It will identify all programs that are running on your computer at the time, and gives you the chance to block it. Hope this helps
