Suggestion for a new forum

Hey guys

I have a suggestion for a new forum to grave the realm of VT.

The forum would be a news related forum....There are so many things going on in the world today and I believe that this forum would inform people.

Guys I am really feeling this idea and I hope I get some support....I e-mailed Kiros about it, but I am yet to hear from him.

* another reason why i thought of this because there has been an influx of article related threads made and it seemed sort of out of place of where it was put, so I fig. a news forum would be good.

So what do you guys think?

yea i think its a good idea. like as we get bigger here at VT and more and more become more interested in the news and the wider world it would be good, worth a try at least. i like it.

I think its a great idea that was the only forum that ever saw any real amount of activity on StapleClock (...that was a good site)

I liked the news idea. I posted a few interesting articles in the WPR too. It should be implemented

wow, im actually suprised people like it...i thought people wouldnt want a new forum, but yea I do think we should have one.

My curiosty of journalism has increased since i decided i wanted to pursue a journalism career

It's an interesting idea but we have TWPR for news. Good idea though.

i think we should have one.. i mean twpr isnt exactly made for news... look at the description...

yea the WPR isnt made for news...people just put news here because noone knows where news related things belong, hence the need for a new forum

Yeah I think its a good idea, like Cody mentioned, there was one over at SC and it was one of the most popular forums. Pity it never took off, anyway I'm getting sidetracked.
I think it would be a good forum for VT to have and would encourage new members and more activity amongst the older ones.

Idea owns. Currently news would either go in the WPR where it doesn't get a lot of posts or not many serious ones, or in Debate where it instantly becomes... well debated about. A News Forum would be an excelent solution.

Oh wow... I'm an idiot... Sorry about that Dante! I've been held up with hosting this stupid game server and I haven't logged into my actual Windows account in days (probably in the realm of at least a week). This means that I haven't seen my email... Really sorry about that, mate :(

Though, I'm for the idea. The White Padded Room has been overtaken with this kind of stuff... TWPR was meant to relieve stress and pretty much any other stress-related topic -- not news though... The 4th Wall was also not intended for news -- media yes, but news belongs on a different platform.

Seen as how the community is growing more and more everyday, and we have much better guidelines than ever before, I think we could open up the floor to a new forum. A treat to the community, if you will :P

dante is the most experienced mod this site has
he handled the 2 most popular forums for along time and they did great

I think it would be a great idea Dante!! Like, VT daily chronicle. We could all share ideas we read in the paper or heared on TV. It would be awesome.

i think Dante and Cody would be awesome as the mods. like Dante is like the most experienced you can get, still not use to him having the green face, and Cody was awesome as well. its the obvious choice really.

I think it should be "The Global Post" because we're all from diff places and when you put "Virtual Teen" infront of it than it sounds like news about VT.

I understand what you're trying to say, but (example: ) "The New York Post" comes from New York and includes news from outside of NY.

with the introduction of the VT Chronicle( which I apprciate btw)...I want to also discuss about a VT monthly newsletter...I know we have talked about this for awhile and nothing seems to happen, but with the the new forum and all. I know it can happen.

A newsletter? As in, a monthly email to everyone? Personally, I like that. I think that helps keep a community more active. But then, we would need to bring up content writers again. We've had that in the past and it did not work out so well. If (understand, that's a big if) we do recreate this group, then the requirements would be pretty demanding - at least to get the position. The normal "I'd like to be one :)" will not do at all. In fact, at least a 20 sentence paragraph should have to be presented as an example of who is capable of what...

Eh, it sounds like an interesting trial... I'll bring it up to the admins and gmods.

Well, I posted the idea and the requirements I felt there should be. It will probably be about a week before we decide anything at all.

Now that we have the Cronicle, I think that we should post the newest newsletter as a sticky in that forum, to go along with the email sent.

Sarah and I were writers and jazbo was the editor

then I signed on one day and the forum was even gone so I waited a few days and still I was a mod (with no forum) so I asked my man Francis to take my mod face away and dropped my post count cause at the time nobody had a green face really so it made me really stick out n I didn’t like that

I used to have to write essays, reports and articles all the time I had fun doing it for awhile like when my mum had the writing business (she’s a professional writer) I’d write to the Edmonton Journal or the Edmonton Sun and they'd print it in a tiny area on like page 1000,000,000
can't be bothered to anymore though

I think it sounds like a wonderful idea. would the people in charge of it have their own forum. to discuss it???? I had some ideas of content: New diaries, deleted diaries. new members. promotions, job openings. spammer banned members???? Just some ideas.

well I dont know how it was before, but i believe with the content writers, there should be one to write sports related material, national news, local news, celebrity gossip, etc.....
