sometimes i wish i could post stuff on vt without people even being able to see my username. is there any way we could give the option to make certain posts anonymous to at least non-mods?

You could make another account, I think that may be against the rules though.
Other than that I don't think there is anything.

What would be the point of that?
We are all open here. You shouldn't be afraid to post what's on your mind.

august, you've never felt just a little embarrassed to post something on vt? even if you are open and you know vt is open you don't feel just a little uncomfortable sometimes? and ben, something tells me that would be against the rules.

I'm sure a lot of us have, but it's given benefit to us and maybe even reassured others to not be afraid to be so open. I don't think will ever happen. Look, we're all understanding people and you should have no problem explaining your problems, no matter how embarrassing they may be, and we will help in any way we can.

Fixed.
There isn't really a way, I believe that there is an add-on for the software that allows areas of the forum to be able to have the option to reply anonymously, but thats something Ant would pick if he wanted to do it.

No I haven't.
When I first joined here, I asked a lot of embarrassing questions. Because I wanted answers. People come here for help. We are all open and accepting to any problem anyone has.

I did actually say it was against the rules. You could if you wanted though... just prepare to be banned.

I have had embarrassing moments, but you gotta get over them. There is nothing to be ashamed of. You don't even know these people, so what does it matter if you get embarrassed? You are here to get answers for important questions. If not that, you are here to make friends. Most people on this site are glad to help you and will willingly become your friend. I'm here to help people more than I am here to get answers. If anyone needs help, feel free to ask me. I'm just here to help! :D

I know where you're coming from now that I know people I would prefer an anonymous option.

Why would you be banned for having two accounts though? I mean, I think it shouldn't be bannable...
Anyways, for anyone wondering, I think having an "anonymous" option would be helpful sometimes, I mean, they might want to talk about it, but they might not want to/be ready to let any friends IRL know. *shrug*
Just my opinion though.

You shouldn't be ashamed of your posts. Hell, I've been given so much shit since people decide to look at my weird posts in P101 from when I joined. I say post what needs to be posted. Stick to the fact that you need help, if you need it. Or you need to rant. Don't be embarrassed.

Post what you want. Now if its simply slamming someone or such then then you'd be one cheeky troll, able to say things anonymously.
At VT we more or less embrace you to say whatever you want. Thats why your here, thats why we're here. We're all in the same boat and have seen it all before

In never thought of it like that.
If you were posting something or in a style that is against the rules, the mods/admins would still be able to see who it was.

Indeed. but regular members would not. But look at ROTW, there could be a wild debate going on about scientific revolution, someone says the opposite to stir the cauldron, and no one knows who to negative Rep.
that sort of thing.

I know I do. Lawl.
Anyway. If your embarrassed don't post it. Even though you should since most of us are here to help instead of make fun of someone.

True, Yeah. I see where you're coming from now.
I like the idea based on how it should be used, the ways in which it could be used to cause trouble far outweigh the possible benefits in my eyes now.
