Ok, so I thought about it on why not to make thread about the old games instead of having them each and every one of them in a separate thread.

So, this thread should be dedicated to those who loves the old school games and the scene and what not.

I loved playing games since the age of 3. I had consoles like Atari2600, NES, SMS, SG, SNES. And PC's like Amiga, C64 and Apple.

Those old 8 and 16 BIT console. They are not dead, they are lying within the depth of our hearts.

Some of the 13 year old kid might say "You still like to play those games with crappy vid and sound?"

Crappy? You got nerves boy.

I know the new console got good graphics and engine and so on. But I don't neglect the forefathers here.

Any way. I still play the old games, we all know the Legend of Zelda, Super Mario, Ninja Gaiden, Galaxian, Metroid, Megaman, Alex in the wonderland, Phantasy Star, Final Fantasy, Shining Force. The list goes on but Some are good and some are bad. But these few games are still in the tongue of the old school gamers.

So, your thoughts, your gaming memoir, your days with them, your love of the game, the scene and all goes here.

I like all the 90s FPS games - Doom, Quake, UT - not quite as retro but still comparatively old. I grew up with these and loved them!

Pac-Man, Pong, and Galaga are the best retro games by far. Those that don`t like retro games fail at life.

Lol, jk. But yeah the part about kids saying shit about FF, Ninja gaiden, and super mario. I can totally relate.

Does anyone else think that the wii shop channel is one of the best inventions evar? To get an atari with adventure on it would cost several thousand plus days of searching but you can get it on wii shop channel for $20 and 20 minutes. Now it may not be the same having to use a gamecube controller or wavebird. But it's great for people on a budget. Anyway to stop this from being one huge ad.(sorry bout that.)

I love FF.(the first one) I have beaten the game twice and made a new game 8 times. Trying out different combinations of classes over and over. 4 characters, 6 job choices, you can have more then one of a certain class. Endless possibilties. Legend of Zelda(the first one) was voted by game informer magazine best game ever. While it's debatable if its best it is definately up there.

No over 90 hour final fantasy game will ever take as many hours as mario did. We won't go there.

And on the other hand, the complete sonic collections that come for the playstation were really great. Although you use a ps2 controller the gameplay isn't much different. My favorite was Sonic the Hedgehog 2. I loved strategically turning hitting eggman with tails.

If you played Final Fantasy, then I would go with Dragon Warrior, another top notch game from the same company.

Didn't they change there name in to dragon quest or was that a different series? Because I own dragon quest 8 and a game called dragon quest 6.

Dragon Warrior is the English or to say Europian and the U.S name.

While

Dragon Quest is the original Japanese of the game.

The team abandoned naming the game from Quest to Warrior this time around.

So, Dragon Quest VIII: The Journey of the Cursed King was the first U.S released game with the game having Quest in it instead of it.

There is a Dragon Quest IX: Sentinels of the Starry Skies for the NDS.

Yeah, they are great games, and I see EarthBound in your sig, have you played that game?

It is a JRPG but it is actually U.S based.

I wish I still had my N64. It was my first console ever.

I remember the old school Mario games, Sonic, StarFox, and Pokemon (all on their respectable consoles)

I'm 13, and I prefer the simplicity and story lines of older games to the newer, high-def games.

Viva la Retro! :D

Loved the first Super Smash Bros (If that counts as retro). Also liked the original Pac-Man. Have any of you ever been to an old fashioned gaming arcade?

You have to admit the N64 is good though.

I have a NES that my parents used to play all the time when they were dating. I only have three games though. :(

Duck Hunt, Super Mario Bros (I think), and Dragon something. It's going to bother me all night now that I can't think of the name.

Edit: DOUBLE DRAGON!!!

N64, Playstation and dreamercast are not retro, but I don't know why these guys keep posting on how their N64 is. We know it uses cartridge that games are saved in, but that doesn't make it a retro.

It uses a 64-Bit unit system Engine capabilities, even playstation is 32-Bit.

These are not retro, retro are those 8-Bit and 16-bit system, like NES and SMS are 8-Bit and Mega Drive and SNES are 16-Bit.

That's why it is called N64, cause it uses 8x8 engine.
