Is the download speed of a torrent limited to the amount and internet speed of the seeds?

I've stopped everything but Vt and it hasn't changed, nobody is using the internet other than me and I generally have a decent internet connection. So unless the seeds have a shit internet.. I don't see why it won't get above 5.5 kB/s

Any ideas why or even how to improve it?

I think that the seeds have a great affect on it. And I don't think there's a way to improve it. Sometimes just waiting it out helps. I'll look at it and it will literally be downloading at like 20 b/s and then later it's at 600 kB/s. It almost seems random.

The port your using, is it forwarded properly? I found out that the port of the router you're using might be closed, it usually means less speed when downloading. Typically, if you forward a port, you'll get better download speeds. It could also be the seeds running on a limited bandwidth. The more you seed - and depending on how many peers or leechers there are - bandwidth is used up.

I don't even know what's happening anymore.
One is stuck on 14 kB/s and the other is on 0.2 kB/s... lets just hope it picks up soon. It's on 97.4% :(

Now now, it's not the end of the world. You can go to this site (http://portforward.com/) for more information. Follow the instructions and you should be fine.

It's probably time to stop pirating eh?

You know, not EVERYTHING regarding torrents is piracy. There are sites out there that ban any users who upload officially released material from the tracker. There are plenty of live music torrent sites that I'm on who have incredibly strict rules regarding officially released material. Granted, there are sites out there that do not take the initiative to make rules regarding official releases, but how can they? The shit is going to get on there. I download music via the internet which includes torrents and various share sites. Does this make me a pirate? No, because I don't believe in paying for music because all the money YOU pay for the artist and their albums goes to the record companies, and little goes to the artist.

Before you start on piracy, read up first.

Thanks anyway. I didn't have to do anything.
I left it for about an hour and it had jumped up to like 400 kB/s
