The sweetest poison is the one,
you're not sure if you want it gone,
you know that it's killing you,
but you know it must be done.
I can see it right now,
the black creeping through my veins,
it's you that I can feel in there,
but would I have it any other way?
The darkness has spread now,
it has siezed everything,
from the fingers that I use to write,
to every single beat in my heart pounding.
Only somewhere along the line,
I heard rumour of a gold so fine,
the perfect detox,
for the perfect crime.
But what was my crime!?
but loving you,
too many times, more,
I assure you, than was due.
It's all so clear now,
I feel like such the fool,
meaningless words and empty hearts,
I will never again be your tool.
The fabled gold,
I sought to no end,
oh, I found it, but now I wonder,
was it worth such a friend?
A friend that smiled,
and said everything right,
but now I know they aren't,
for they betrayed me last night.
That friend was the gold,
that I so sought in vain,
I thought that I could trust them,
found someone in equal pain.
The taste of you, lingering there,
is still fresh on my heart, but maybe,
I can hope that someday soon,
I could ensure the beating would never start.
The sweetest poison,
is the one you want gone at all costs,
you couldn't dream of a better day,
but they, of course, have other plans,
don't they.
you're not sure if you want it gone,
you know that it's killing you,
but you know it must be done.
