If you try to use quick reply you have to click 'quick' on one of the posts. There's an option in the admin cp options to change it so that you can just use quick reply without having to click a post. Maybe this would be easier?

i agree.
even though i don't use quick reply.
i also liked it beter when you clicked on the (bold) option and the font turned bold. I don't like the little code things like [size] you know what i mean?
its easier just to press it and you see it.
it was like that in the beginning.

If you change your formatting options the code won't come up it will just happen. And I agree with Kevin. I almost always use quick reply.

i am not too sure but is the fact that you have to click the "quick" on a post to do with the hybrid view, so for people who are using it can see what exactly post you are replying to. not sure, prob wrong!:P

There's a button. It has a gray letter A, then a diagonal line. then an italic blue underlined A. Click on that and those codes won't be their.

OK, first, let me explain a few things. I have already known about this since the first day we had vBulletin installed, Kevin :P And Kolte, the "Switch Editor Mode" button (all the way on the right) should switch the mode of what you can see. If your only switch between tags and no formatting at all, then you might have it set to not be in advanced mode in your UserCP (but I'm not sure if this would affect it) or your browser could be displaying something wrong. In Avant Browser, I see the formatting just find (without the tags).
Now then, I set the Quick Reply to require the click on a specific post because it keeps track of posting better. Without the click required, vBulletin has no idea which post you are replying to, so the best it can do is give the default reply title and place it as the latest post in the tree. Also, moderators and administrators can use this system to track posts if it is needed. To top it off, the vBulletin creators recommend that the click be required so that vBulletin knows which post you're replying to.
Personally, I do not think it is that hard to find the post you want to reply to, and then click the "Quick" button. It takes less than a second if you are just replying to the last post... Plus, look at something for a second... When you click the Quick button, the cursor automatically shoots down and puts itself in the Quick Reply box. Normally, if you did not have this, you would have to scroll down to the box and click in it anyway just to put the cursor in it. So really, it's the same effort, but without the scrolling (sometimes).
Does it really annoy you guys that much to click a button instead of clicking in a text box? :| If it does, I'll change it to no click required...

I'm just saying, quick reply. That kind of takes out of the quick in quick reply. Plus, you'd never really have to use that... Unless you really want to get into details.
And also, why not use wysiwyg? It's very useful in plenty of cases....

WYSIWYG should be enabled. Check your UserCP to see if it's disabled for the Quick Reply.
Though it's like I said earlier, don't you still have to only make one click? You would have to do the same thing for putting the cursor in the Quick Reply text box anyway, right?

I still never get these "WYSIWYG" terms :| But I agree with Kiros that it's actually easier to click the quick reply button, because it does automatically scroll down to the box.
Oh, and also, I probably don't know some of your terms Kiros because I don't know what Avant is :|
Anyway, back to the quick reply. I was resistant on how to use it because I didn't know which post to click on. Then I thought, I'm going to click the button in the post that the body of my messege is going to be about. Let's take the VT photo sticky. Today I clicked Heather's messege because I agreed with her, and then I said something about Cody's picture.
If I'm really really lazy n.n or I'm really stuck on which post to reply to, I'll just click the post reply button (or if I'm replying to the topic in general).
Lastly, I was also resistant of using the quick reply because I thought Kiros wanted to force us to use the threaded or hybrid mode :P I still use leniar.

WYSIWYG is just an acronym for: What You See Is What You Get
And Avant is short for Avant Browser (which is just a browser) :P
I don't try and use complex words - only when I need to... or when I run out of simple adjectives :P
Anyway, thank you, Donnie, for giving a prime example of the correct way to use the Quick Reply buttons :)
