I LOVE West Side Story :) It's really my favourite :)

I was also fortunate enough to go see Billy Elliot on Broadway last October too! Really good :)

Moulin Rouge is a bit of a cheat because its not an original soundtrack really, just cover versions of old songs. Great film though, I love it.

West Side Story is tremendous, if you get the chance see Phantom of The Opera on stage, that's just fantastic.

West Side Story, mmm. Watched it, done it *Who is Juano anyway...I think that's his name, my little Shark char...*, even made costume bits for it. Love it. *school musicals..jealous that they are doing Les Mis without me :/* I've seen Chicago, both film and stage *Mr.Cellophane should have been my name*. And some other random ones like what, Guys and Dolls *It was so long ago...*, Mamma Mia *film, cried.*, Somehow involved in some small musical that mixes Oliver, Dicken's stories, Sherlock Holmes, Sweeney Todd (indirectly), and etc. That's my musical history. :)

Well for movies: West Side Story is a great musical. Another great movie, even though it's technically a rock opera, is Pink Floyd's: The Wall. It's a really disturbing and trippy movie, but it's epic and oh so amazing.

I'd say Annie and Phantom of the Opera.

I don't have anything to contribute to this topic really, it's arguable that I shouldn't post. I couldn't sit through a musical. I just can't get into them one bit.

I like some musicals. I haven't really watched too many, but they are definitely interesting and I want to watch more. I've seen Sweeney Todd, The Phantom Of The Opera, Moulin Rouge, Cry Baby, and Repo! The Genetic Opera. I loved all of those. I've also seen The Sound Of Music (:P), but I was a kid and I don't remember much about it, so I don't know if I liked it or not. Oh, and Mary Poppins, but I definitely know I didn't like that one. Lolz.

The Madness.

Chicago (similar style to Moulin Rouge)
The Sound of Music
Sweeny Todd
Phatom of the Opera
Les Miserables
Hairspray
The Color Purple
The Lion King on Broadway is incredible
Wicked
Cabaret (also similar style to Moulin Rouge)
Rent!
Legally Blonde the Musical is fun
Grease, great classic
Oklahoma!
Fiddler on the Roof
Jesus Christ Superstar
Hair
Little Shop of Horrors
Anything including Stephen Sondheim is incredible.

These are all great, if you liked Moulin Rouge, I would think you would like the one's followed in parentheses.

If you like rock, and 80's I would prefer Purple Rain starring Prince. It has him and The Revolution playing they're hits while mixed in with the movies plot. Best movie ever:D

Beauty and the Beast (I would die to play Beast. I love "If I Can't Love Her", actually performed that song as a solo. Was AWESOME!)
Les Miserables: Awesome, was the swing when my high school did it. (Being the swing means I understudied most of the male roles, though Javert is my favorite)
Phantom of the Opera: Just a classic (Would love to play the Phantom) (Movie Sucked)
Sweeny Todd (Depp has no clue how to sing)
Hairspray (played Link) Movie actually good, even in comparison to the stage
The Lion King
Wicked (Only bad thing about this show is that the 2 best parts are women)
Rent! (Rodger is one of the roles I want to play before I die)
Fiddler on the Roof
Jesus Christ Superstar (Judas is a really appealing role here)
Little Shop of Horrors
The Sound of Music

Good god a little more selectivity would have been nice :P

Hairspray, Lion King, Sweeney, and thats probably it.
Youre right tho, the movie does sweeney no justice.

Look for more stuff by Sondheim then. If you loved it then there's a good chance you'll like the rest of his stuff. He's a great composer. Try Assassins.

Repo! The Genetic Opera, Sweeney Todd, Moulin Rouge, and The Phantom Of The Opera are all good. I'm not very experienced in watching a lot of musicals, but I def should because I like the cinematic/theatrical.
