I think that people should be able to change their username whenever they want in the User CP. What does everyone else think?

no way, would get way too confusing. the current system is fine.

No, it would cause complete confusion and it would lead to widespread abuse. The "three month" rule is just fine.

Well, the problem I think is that i requested a name change and he said it was ok to do this 3 month period, but it was never changed.

If you asked an admin I find that hard to believe. I requested a name change and in less than two minutes it was done.

I would PM an admin back and ask them to change it for you.
Here are the admins.

Give them a chance. As long as it hasn't been like over a week I'd just wait.
Maybe Pm them if it isn't done.

Have you had your username changed before? From how i read of it, Ant told you that you'd have to wait 3 months (No not the back log of username changes :P) But i could have just mis-read it.
and no, to be able to change your username when ever you want would confuse everyone. It'd piss me off

Going through my PMs you never gave me any confirmation that you wanted it changed. You said you think you wanted it changed. Until I get a definite decision it won't be changed.

This was already resolved,
I changed it on the 18th.
For future reference,
Generally your name will get changed 24 hours at most after you've requested it,
It's a matter of when we're on to see your request,
And it gets done as soon as we get your PM.

Just to clarify, does the 3 month rule still apply?

I pm'ed Ant and he said it does because i asked for a name change and was told to wait til my time, but I'm not sure because I know someone on here that has had a name change after 2 weeks from the previous changed username. I'm waiting the three months though :P

It's possible that there was other contributing factors, to that person specifically.

I should clarify, I know some people my mistake.

Oh right, maybe it has been changed then - if it's more than one person.

If you want to change the user name then you can change it from the Profile or User Control Panel. But in that you can change after 24 hours on which you have requested.
