Why does she act this way?

I don't really understand the way this girl is acting. We knew each other for awhile (early grade school and I transfered out) and we started talking a little bit now that were in high school because some people I was kind of friends with knew her. Well, when we found out we had similar friends she called me two nights in a row and talked for a really long time. I was not exactly experienced in talking to girls, usually being a sort of reserved, geeky person. Due to this I didn't talk much and promised myself that I'd say more when she called the third night, but she didnt. We even made plans to meet up, but those fell through and nothing happened. Well, after that we talked just a little bit ever other day or so, and then next to nothing. Randomly she'd bring up some sort of conversation with me or something and I'd talk, but I never initiated anything, afraid to annoy her with my presence. Well, I said we knew each other in grade school earlier. She was the first girl I ever liked, my first crush. Somehow over the time she started talking to me again I developed this again even though I hardly knew her. Time goes on, we dont talk much at all, but I still have that feeling, telling myself I'll man up and try to talk to her. I don't end up doing anything, of course I wussed out. Well, out of the blue she asks if I'm at some event because she thought we could hangout that night. (It was a basketball game) Well, of course I had decided going would be pointless and I missed out on that chance, but we made plans to meet up again and she said she couldnt wait. Well, then she started talking to me more again and whenever she started talking to me she'd talk for a good amount of time (this happened over facebook). By this time I'd gained a bit more courage and initiated some conversations so I could get to know her better and see if I really did like her. Well, whenever I wanted to talk it seems she didnt, and she just answered with little replies that led nowhere. I was so confused because she was so talkative whenever she messaged me, but if I talked to her so was just dull and unresponsive. Well, soon asked her if she was going somewhere that weekend because we could see each other like we promised, and after bit of awkward conversation (I asked in a weird way I guess because I had to explain something to her) I just got the answer "I dont know if I'm going" Well, I felt a little discouraged after that and just said "oh" and that pretty much ended it. I never did find out if she went, I tried to talk to her once or twice more after that, but she hardly talked. I felt like an idiot but just moved on with my dorky life. Well, I randomly get a call from her one night when I'm hanging out with some friends but of course I miss it. "Luckily" my friend is quick to call her back without me knowing and talking like an idiot on purpose. She hangs up on him and I find out what he did and send a text apologizing for my friend (she wouldnt answer the phone again) and asking why she called late at at night (12.15 roughly). Well, that is just ignored and she just says "its fine" about my friend being an idiot, purposefully ignoring my question. I talk to her the next day when I see her on facebook, apologizing again and asking what she wanted. She just says its fine about my friend and ignores anything I have to say about why she called me.

To sum it up, I don't get why she will only talk if she initiates it and almost always ignoreds me when I want to talk. Also, why is she refusing to tell me why she called late at night? I know this is probably a dumb situation but I just don't know what to think about it, so maybe someone can tell me whats up

Maybe she wasn't feeling talkative. Keep talking and maybe something will happen. I'm sorry but I can't really help you much because when its with girls I''m kinda not sure what to do. Good luck!
