Alrighty, I downloaded Avant and we shall now find out which is faster, Avant or Firefox.

Download Speeds at PC Pit Stop

The Fox; 3328 kbps, 2380 kbps, 3283 kbps, 3234 kbps, 3111 kbps

Avant; 2320 kbps, 2578 kbps, 3669 kbps, 2380 kbps, 3240 kbps

Download Speeds at Speak Easy LA Server

The Fox; 5505 kbps, 5958 kbps, 5854 kbps, 5631 kbps, 5553 kbps

Avant; 5687 kbps, 5847 kbps, 5737 kbps, 5712 kbps, 5776 kbps

Averages

The Fox 4383.7 kbps

Avant 4294.6

This is running off of a cable connection mind you, clocking at 500 kbps upload.

Big speed difference? No. In fact, with more data, they'd probably end up the same, so please stop with the annoying drop Firefox get Avant ads 0:

Hmmm... very odd... Everytime that I'm testing them on PitStop, Avant keeps getting from 10-100kb more than FireFox... It must depend on what is going on during the testing...

Ah well... Read some things over at FireFox Myths! It's a great place :)

Bah, Avant! If Firefox is so terrible then what are we Linux users supposed to use? Epiphany? Konqueror? :P

Bah... I just hit the back button (on my mouse) accidentally and erased what I typed  In short, Felix, you might want to try to use different kinds of views in GMail (options at the bottom of GMail pages). And Linux might just be the problem :P :P (j/k)

And Kolte, basically, I totally agree that Opera is better than FireFox. Mozilla (including Netscape and FireFox) use the 'moz' tags to get better compatibility with web pages and I'm not sure if Opera uses them or not. That might be the reason Opera seems less compatible, although, one of my friends claims that Opera has a plugin that allows it to use ActiveX, and that would make it much more compatible with many mainstream sites. Also, I like it because it has it's very own section for immunization in Spybot S&D.

Overall, though, I like Avant Browser much more for the safest, most convenient, and most compatible web browsing out there ;) Nothing can beat Avant Browser when it has the protection of Spyware Blaster and Spybot S&D behind it :D
