Pretty niftly little tool, allows you to record and edit audio. Not just the basics, everything. It's free too, here's the link http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
Happy editing! (note, the only common file types it can use are mp3 and WAV, so covert your audio files with something like itunes if you need to)
Here's something I did with Orinoco Flow. http://media.putfile.com/wolF-oconirO
I reversed it and played it at double speed with a .2 second delay single echo with a decay factor of .5.

Only time I've used Audacity is to remove vocals from an mp3 track.

BUT, if you disabled all other sounds on your computer, and selected "stereo mix" or "mono mix" from the drop-down menu on the right, hit the record button, and played the files, it would record the music internally, after which you could divide it into tracks and save in the format of your choosing.

ewww gross audacity, *nasty*
personally, if your going to use a 'free' audio-editing program, then cooleditpro is the only way to go. *rythemic*
