I've I ordered Hero from Amazon, and it should be arriving tomorrow (:. Is it any good?

I never seen hero. Milk, like the person above me said is alright, but there are way better movies.
It all depends on the kind of movie you want. Movies on coming out, movies on gay history, movies about being gay at a young age. Etc.
These pages should help you.

One of my favorites is A Beautiful Thing. Really good movie.
As far as books, I would probably search on Amazon, or whatever bookstore, gay, coming out, relationships, in the search box. That should probably help you.

I haven't watched many gay films, but have read some books.
I've read: "Geography Club" (this is part 1 of a 3 part series. P1 and 2 are great, but pt 3 was pretty bad)
"Rainbow Boys" (this is also a part of a series. I haven't read them all, but the few I've read are really really good.)
"Boy Meets Boy" is a cute little story too.

It's not a film or book, but Queer as Folk was a great TV series. I've only seen the original UK version from the nineties, but I think there was an American remake.

Queer As Folk is amazing (the US version). I love it.
This is kinda weird (being a gay guy and all), but "The L Word" (lesbian show) is a really great series. The stories are great, and even though there are hardly any gay guys, you can relate to the stories.
I totally forgot about "But I'm a Cheerleader". That movie made me laugh so hard. It's a sweet story.

Theres a film with robert de nero in it and leonardo dicaprio. Where leonardos mum moves in with robert ne nero, he turns out to be a total ass hole, but there is a relationship between leonardo and another boy in it. Sorry, it was a while since i watched it and i cant remember the name of it or the characters =S Ill report back when i find out

I don't read any gay literature, but there are some films you should watch:
Boys Don't Cry (I can't remember the exact title, but it's good.)
Brokeback Mountain (Heath Ledger classic.)
Philadelphia (Probably the quintessential LGBT movie if you ask me.)

Umm I saw scenes of one called Mudge boy on YouTube it has the guy from "the girl nextdoor" in it, from what I saw it's about an angered teen who rapes a boy he is working with. Later the boy develops feelings for him, while the angry guy pretends to not feel the same way. It ended with the boy trying to prove that he wasn't gay by killing his beloved pet chicken. it seemed pretty interesting, but I havnt officially seem the movie.

Meh, any book that I read that goes remotely into gay territory is A Spot of Bother by Mark Haddon. That guy who wrote 'The Curious Incident...' with that dog and the kid and etc. The gay bit is a sub-plot, but I liked it. Some 'detail' in it though, both sides. It's more like a couple trying to get back together after one moved out. I'd like to actually see/read more films and books, though. *keeps an eye on this thread*

"Edge of Seventeen" is a really good 'self discovery' film I thought. I also liked "Running with Scissors".

I really liked Edge of Seventeen...its on netflix streaming if your family gets it...
as for books I was reading Gay America: Struggle for Equality from the library and liked it...I'm not out yet really so most of the reading I'm doing is kinda under the table...literally...but thinking of coming out in the next couple of weeks and might be able to watch/read other stuff.
