GovTeen would be the next thing after VT. You could try them, but it's a larger community so be aware of that.

Are we allowed to post links to other forums here? Just making sure, because most places seem to forbid it.

As long as you're not really promoting the site then it's fine.

"Posts and signatures that advertise other websites and other flagrant advertising are not permitted. Links to external sites are allowed when they relate to a discussion, in your signature, the website section of your profile, and the Affiliate Member Sites and Links forum (with affiliate guidelines followed)." - VT Rules.

So yes if the site/forum is related to the thread, you can post it.

The only one I know of is GovTeen. VT's ''sister'' site.

One would think that since GovTeen is our sister site, we would be allowed to link to them. Really, I'd think that if you were advertising then the link would be against the rules.

From my view I tried GT. I didn't like it at all though.

Well, wouldn't ExtremeTeenForums be a good example?(for those of you who know what it is, i.e. older members) I haven't been there in forever, though, so I don't know if Jon still keeps it running and such.

It's because GovTeen is a much larger community. It's been around longer (since 1998 when it was still VirtualKid) and is more widely known. I'm a member on GovTeen and have been for three years come October. They're actually incredibly nice people, but don't expect to get really well known. You have to really make your name to near household status to be recognized.

As other people have already said, GovTeen is the closest thing.

It's a much larger community though, so imo it's not as friendly.

Why is it that people feel that a larger community is "less friendly" than a smaller one? If by "friendly" you mean it has a more small town feel to it instead of a big city, then yes. But some of the people are nice once you get to really know them.

I'd say GovTeen also. I've been a member there as long as I have been here, though I only have the 250 face. But the people there are just as friendly as the people here.

I mean in regards to personal advice and friendship.
If there's more members then the likelihood of anything being personal is reduced.

As I said, they are incredibly nice people with a wide range of experience in advice giving. Eventually you'll make your friends, but you gotta really put yourself out there and push through the crowd. True, but I think it's just the size of the community in TOTAL is what makes people think it's not personal.
