So, In PD/H/Pe I got an assignment, its about abuse.
I have to choose one for of abuse, do research on it and sketch up an advertisement campaign on combatting people who suffer from abuse.
I was going to do Child Abuse, but my parents wouldn't let me for some reason,
I'm going to do a pamphlete and a poster, but, I need a direction to head in.
I'm a relatively good drawer, so thats not a problem. but....
I was wondering if anyone could give me a tip/direction in which to head? I'm able to choose any form of abuse (minus Child. >_>) and create an advertisement that will "encourage victims of abuse to seek help"...
I want to know your opinions on which one I should do and ways that people would actually listen to advertisement campaigns that combat abuse.
Thanks, =]

Avoid sexual abuse, teacher will report it, or be suspicious
Drug abuse?

I'd have gone with child abuse but if you cannot then there are many other forms to do: domestic abuse, drug abuse, elder abuse, sexual abuse, financial abuse, emotional abuse, physical abuse to strangers, gang rape, animal abuse and many others. The majority of these you can find easily in your newspaper as practical examples and you could try to link this to a form of PTSD called Battered Woman Syndrome (not a psychiatric diagnosis but is a legal term). There are other psychiatric disorders associated with abuse but one I would be very cautious about is DID (dissociative identity disorder) as many don't believe it even exists. PTSD would be a great example to use along with Battered Woman Syndrome and Rape Trauma Syndrome (also a legal term).
One way to advertise it is a way your teacher may object to so be forewarned (and ask him/her) and that is to show it. Show evidence of it, not simply newspaper examples but you can find many images, many of which are very brutal and graphic showing it. Include with this the more legal or psychiatric side (i.e. PTSD) to indicate what these individuals can face. There have been studies done showing 17 years after the incident, an amount of the people still had the symptoms. I can find you the numbers as I don't recall them off-hand along with the authors but it was around 13 to 18%.
If you're going to do domestic abuse, then I'd also toss in Battered Woman Syndrome and look up cases of these or Rape Trauma Syndrome, for sexual abuse or also domestic abuse.
However, I would avoid doing any personal examples that happened to you, friends or family.

Huh? It's a common form of abuse, I doubt the teacher would be suspicious when he/she is allowing for that topic to be addressed. Your same argument applies to drug abuse, don't do that because the teacher would be suspicious. Actually, your argument translates to don't talk about any form of abuse as the teacher would be suspicious or report it. Cant have your cake and eat it, doesn't work that way.

No, in our schooling system they have to report suspicious works, like if we wrote about suicide they report it to Child services

http://au.reachout.com/about
covers relatively everything I need and more.
Ranges from comming out/sexuality to helping friends, to seeking help if you can't control your anger, to getting help to avoid Abuse. It actually seems really good. I want to try and get my school involved. >.<

That seems a little drastic.
The teacher openly talks about rape and physical abuse in class.
Some of us talk about how 'rough' the sex was the other night or how some ones dad whacked him yesterday etc.. He doesn't do anything.

If a student wrote about how they wanted to commit suicide, then yes, it would get reported. However, doing a project on sexual abuse in general when the assignment is any form of abuse, it seems unrealistic to get reported to child services because one did a project on sexual abuse. When the teacher allows for the topic to be discussed in general, it makes no sense why he/she would report it when a student discusses an allowed topic in general. If the student gave their own personal experiences, then that's a whole different story and I agree with you that it would then be reported.
