View Full Version : Do you like school?

Or rather, do you overall enjoy being at school? I'm very interested to hear people's opinions.

Very Long story: I kind of love how they advertise "School is Cool!" and "School is Fun!" when you're a kid.

...Yeah. It's "fun" and "cool" when you're in Kindergarten and all you do is play. Just play games, listen to stories, colour, and eat snacks, all day. After Kindergarten, it starts to get dull really fast. At least in my opinion.

I have never in my life enjoyed school at all, even in Kindergarten, but think I really started to hate going to school a lot around 3rd grade mark. The summer before I stared 3rd was the summer that my Father got remarried, which resulted in us moving to a new town and I had to go to a new school, where I was absolutely miserable because people ruthlessly bullied me and I had only 1 friend, with whom I was very on and off with, and a lot of the teachers were awful to me too. Apparently, their reason for their constant cruelty to me was because I was "ugly".

4th grade wasn't too bad. I switched into a different school, and I actually had a pretty good time there aside from the fact that my teacher was a bitch who put in me detention all the time.

Then the summer before I started 5th year was the summer we made the big move to Ontario. I was very unhappy about coming here and was extremely against moving, but obviously I had no choice the matter.

Even longer story short, I've jumped around to a crapload of different Ontario schools, and I haven't been able to fit in or be happy in even a single one of them. In fact, I've pretty much been a miserable whelp since the day we came here, mainly because Ontarian kids are so... impossible.

Besides, class is soooOOOooo boring and painful to sit through.

Short Story: I loathe school.

You may consider talking to a teacher who respects, cares for you.
Personally, I love school very much. Perhaps it might be due to the fact that I am studying in the same school since kindergarten. I find school to be a place to enjoy with your friends and plus of course study new things.

I like school in that I like learning and I drive myself crazy on the holidays with nothing to do but sometimes I can't stand the people to a point where I start to dread going.

From September to Christmas I wasn't too happy. A new country, new school and two languages to learn didn't help. But now, things are much better and I'm finding that I like going.

Depends.

The academic parts of school, I didn't like. I think academia is a bureaucracy, but I'm still glad my mom didn't let me drop out. However, the social aspects of school was great and I miss it all the time.

I rather enjoy school at the moment, only science and commerce, and my friends.

The social elements of high-school were neither here nor there, some parts were great, many were shit. The academic part of it was quite good though as I had many teachers who knew what they were talking about and they took a passion in teaching.

In university I love it so when it comes to school, I think about university.

I somewhat enjoy it.

Senior year was the first year I truly started to enjoy school - although I always considered it my home, for the simple reason of hating being at home. Overall, the social element was always either non-existent or very minute, and academics, well, a large part of that depends on the teacher. A skillful teacher can make even the most mundane and pathetic curriculum into an enjoyable experience, and I've recently come across some of the best teachers in the high school system.

I can't honestly imagine myself ever being completely out of and done with academics. Nothing compares to the fulfilling experience of learning - even if it be completely useless things that will never be applicable outside the classroom.

I'm sure I will love university life.

Hate it. My school is so low maintenance. The kids who go here are all jerks and punks. Food is nasty and somewhat inedible ( I already threw up about 8 times this year from the food and had to get rushed to the hospital because they put fish in a food and im DEADLY allergic to fish. Even smelling it can kill me. Lucky me I was carrying my epi-pens ) Maybe if my school had some better standards I would enjoy it.

You'll like it better when you get older.

I used to despise every minute of it back when I was forced to take (imo) pointless lessons and classes.

Now that I'm taking mostly classes that I enjoy and chose for myself it is much more interesting. I'm not forced together with very many idiots in my classes as the sets are now pretty much skill based instead of mostly mixed ability.

Anyways, I don't mind school. Given the choice I would drop most of it, but continue with the important and exciting ones. Physics, It, Biology, English.

I like the social aspect of school. The whole learning thing ruins it :P.

I actually don't think school is that bad; all of my teachers are nice, the students are nice, and I have really good friends in school. All in all, I think school is pretty good.

I hated public school, you were forced to be there with people you didn't like and taking classes that you had no interest in. The high school I went to, it was small; 800 students in the entire school, and in a poor community. We were lucky to have psychology as an elective.

College is alright though. I'm finishing up my core classes at the moment, so I'm bored to tears with what I'm doing at the moment. Once I get into actually taking classes that I want to take and classes that are more specific to my major though, I'll be content with being in school.

Once you get older and out in the real world, you'll realize just how easy you had it made in Jr. High and High School.

When I went to school in St Albans (Ipswich) in year 7, I hated it because the lessons were boring and almost all the kids were violent little shits. It was quite awful until I moved schools to St Joseph's College (Ipswich still) which has been a lot better in both the teaching part and with the pupils. But then again, St Joseph's does have a lower density of kids and about half the people to a class as well as being a private school. So now, school has gotten more interesting, especially now I'm doing the subjects that I've chosen for my GCSEs.

I hate public school. My school is one of the most counter-productive places for education I could possibly imagine. Everybody is treated like an eight year old and expected to know nearly nothing, while people like my math teacher don't fully understand what it is that they're teaching and people like my history teacher get off track so they can rant about politics and teach their opinions to these, frankly, unintelligent and gullible people, as if they are facts.
The guys in my school are just generally rotten, idiotic people, and the girls are generally slutty and ignorant. (One girl didn't know what Guantanamo Bay was, another didn't know who Christopher Columbus was! I think I cried a little.)
So no, I don't like school.

Yes, to an extent. I like being able to chill with my friend and learn interesting things.
Middle School I absolutely hated because you didn't get to choose your classes or anything....

I hate my school. Im in the 8th grade and they give us high school and college level crap. Sometimes I have to stay up till 1:00 A.M. in the morning to finish my homework. That cannot be healthy.

I do and I don't.

I like school more this year as I'm only really doing subjects I love and it's easier on that part. Plus a lot of my closest friends are in school too :D Plus the teaching staff there are generally nice and helpful, to an extent anyway.

I don't like it as out of around 649 other pupils in my school, I would only be able to call nearly 10 my friends, and it makes me a small fish in a very big pond. The bullying and abuse has somewhat calmed slightly but still, there are mornings where I wish I didn't wake up for fear of going into school, or evenings where I'd come home so upset the first thing I do is cry over everything.

I went to the same school from kindergarden through eighth grade and my first switch was in high school. I should like school. But I absolutely loathe it.

I do enjoy school, but not for learning. Mostly for my friends, because they all live far away (I go to a school that accepts people from all over my state), and i may not see them soon.

Hehe... stupid school. Last year, my science teacher had never heard of Descartes! The founder of the cartesian plain! The crux of algebraic geometry! And my science teacher called defribulators "those zappy things" one time. Last year I found school very depressing. Everyone was so stupid , the work was so easy, etc. But I now know that it's all about attitude. If you smile then your mood will come to reflect your body language.:D
