(This is the first poem I've ever written in my whole life. It's about the end of the Nine Years' War in Ireland, if I make historical errors, I apologise :P)
While we slept, sound at night
From our shores they left,
The Earls in flight.
To Rome they fled,
To lick wounds once healed;
After McHugh bled
In Carlow's fields.
They went to Spain,
Taking jewels and pearls;
Leaving us to our pain
The Flight of the Earls
While we slept, sound at night
From our shores they left,
The Earls in flight.
To Rome they fled,
To lick wounds once healed;
After McHugh bled
In Carlow's fields.
They went to Spain,
Taking jewels and pearls;
Leaving us to our pain
The Flight of the Earls
