View Full Version : Your Opinion on Fashion

Really, how much do you care about fashion and dressing to impress?
On a scale of 1-10 of how much I give a damn about fashion, I'd put myself at a lovely little 0 zero. :P
In all honesty, I do not care one bit about what others think of my wardrobe. I've been that way for as long as I can remember, ever since early childhood. I care much more about personal comfort than looks, and I'm extremely frugal, so I dress accordingly. I buy all of my clothes at Zellers and Wal-Mart (sometimes Old Navy). I wear a plain t-shirt and pajama/sweat pants every single day because I damn well like it.
I wear what I want and when I want and I don't care what anyone else thinks. I don't give a crap about impressing others that way. :yeah:
I'm also completely indifferent to other's choices in clothing, too. Which is why I laugh at people who are actually stupid and vain enough to blow multi hundreds of dollars on fancy clothing.... pretty silly and wasteful is you ask me. Clothes don't make the person, and money ought to be put to better uses than that.
The only things I really ever have any concern about when it comes to clothing are cleanliness and practicality. But I'm pretty good about keeping up with my laundry, and a shirt and pajama pants/sweats are practical for just about anything, so it's all good.

I shop at thrift stores. But about a 6. I think about what I wear before I wear it. But I'm not picky. I haven't bought any item of clothing over $20 excluding shoes.

I give a 9. I think your fashion statement is equally important as your character.

Probably around a 3-4. I don't "dress to impress" nor do I wear expensive, fancy clothing on a daily basis. I wear what's comfortable for me but at the same time, I don't want to wear something that looks as though it came out of the gutter. I like the clothes clean, be a bit darker in colour but still have some basic pattern or image on the clothes. So as long as it doesn't look awful, is comfortable and not ridiculously expensive, I'll buy it to wear it.
The exception to this, which is why I gave this a 4, is that clothing I wear often, such as a jacket I'm more willing to spend money on, such as around $400 and a sweater that's about $100. The rest of my clothing is less expensive, around $10-60 per item.

well i'm alot into trendy things. love to look good, so that people could say "this one looks pretty good". how to sayy.. i just love being in a good shape. in general i care alot about me appearance, and i think trends matter alot.
but i don't think i must wear what sounds trendy in general, for everyone.. i wear what i like, and what i think suites me

$60 qualifies as "less expensive" now?
*shrug* 4?
I don't spend a lot of money on clothes... and frankly i don't give a fuck if it's "in fashion", but its not like i wear the same thing for a week.
and i do know how to look 'nice' for formal shit

I love to stand out with unusual clothes, but still fit in the "acceptable"
My looks vary from flaming weird to classy and sophisticated. =]

I dress for comfort and my taste in style. I get my fashion sense from my mom and she's a really good shopper.

umm probly like an 8 or 9
i feel that it's important to express one's self through appearance
it ties in the a whole bunch of emotions and what not as well (self worth, self-identity ect...)
so yea i wudn't say fashion is the most vital concern, but it's definitely important

I'm around an 8 or 9 on most days.
I like to wear clothes that make me feel confidant. I usually find my clothes at the mall, and rummaging through clearance bins. I always find stuff that's the same brands that most people wear, but a different style of it.
Some days I'm a 5, and I wear basketball shorts and a sweater. :P

...I would have answered 6 two months ago. But' I have to say 9 or so.
Lately, I've been spending my time looking at fashion sites and designers' shows on Youtube and matching my clothes better. And not only with clothes but also hairstyle, etc
I believe looking good is important for everyone and personally just need to. I prefer spending money on clothes than on technology and I'm always looking at people's clothing(I must admit that I may make judgements based on it although not as much now)

I dont see how wearing name brands(who doesn't?And I actually have a few brands I will never be caught dead using like DC, just to name one) has anything to do with being a good friend.

Some people generalise others who wear typical brand names like hollister to be rich jerks.

Oh,well.People like to generalise a lot.
It's cool however how you can play with people's established thoughts to create yourself an image.
And,by the way, I think your username says it all about you and fashion.

For me it does, yes. But, since it is at the end of the range I gave, I don't tend to buy numerous $60 clothings because more often than not, I can buy it cheaper for about $20 less or more. If not, or if I'm too lazy, I just buy it then and there.

Same here. :)
I do try to look nice, but I don't take the opinions of other people into consideration when choosing how I want to dress.
I don't like looking like a clone, or blending in with everyone else. I rarely pay attention to what's "in fashion" tbh.

I hate the show 'what not to wear' like theyre making people change how they look. who are they to judge how they dress. hell you can go out wearing a yellow tutu with purple stripes down the street and i wouldnt think twice about it. let people wear what they want is what i always say. Me, i wear whatevers comfortable, i dont care what people think

I guess five or six since I only wear American Eagle because it's very comfortable and I think Polo is silly. I mean why only wear a t-shirt with just a freaking horse on it? Colored shirts are different, but plain ol' t-shirts is just stupid.
Also, why wear the exact thing as everyone else? If over 9,000 people wear Polo at once in a school, you just killed the brand, basically.

9-10. I can be pretty self-concious, but it's mostly about my own taste. I do find what you wear to be a bit important, I'd rather not look like a hobo... D; And although people always say they judge people on personality, what you wear does give an impression.

10 for me I'd say. I mean, I try to look my best at all times, like I can spent 2 or 3 hours finding something that'll work for me to wear to work. I try to make sure nothing makes one item of clothing stand out from the others and so on. And it ALWAYS has to go with one of my scarves :P I'm too self conscious about all this but hey-ho, that's me I guess.

9. Fashion is sort of a way how to tell people about yourself (most of the time). It's sorta like a first impression especially when you're with lots of strangers. I know people are gonna say "all i care about is what's inside" and whatever but you can't deny that a lot of them are really affected by the way you look. And it's fun anyways. :D

Fashion designers can make a lot of money, look at Coco Chanel, Dominico Dolce, and Stefano Gabbana. You just have to really put yourself out there, it is a tough business so be prepared. You have to start small and for a while you won't be super rich, and you may be in debt, but it can pay off in the end if you try hard enough. Good Luck!
