She smiled back when I said hello,
And I knew it was love
I'd put on quite a show,
And I thought that my chances were high as could be,
I thought the sun would shine
Through the whole damn valley that night.
But I was wrong the darkness overcame the sun,
And the clouds took away the light that I had prayed
Would come to save me from this dissipating love
I've always felt it in my heart I thought she'd come and run away
At midnight into the sunset, with me,
But I was wrong!
Love always turns you upside down!
What once seemed perfect now is worthless,
What once put a smile on your face
Now quickly takes that smile away,
A grin to tears, in sixteen years
I still can't decipher what love is meant to do
For me...
Love always turns you inside out!
Your heart worn on your sleeve, torn out,
The stitching worn down, not sewed back,
And you lost what you had and you can't have it back,
And it's all on the edge and the edge is in fact
About to crumble down and rumble round
Shaking earthquakes all around and I lost it all,
And it won't come back, no it won't come back.
Love always turns you upside down!
What once seemed perfect now is worthless,
What once put a smile on your face
Now quickly takes that smile away,
A grin to tears, in sixteen years
I still can't decipher what love is meant to do
For me...
I thought that she was everything,
The sunshine to my blossoming,
She'd rise me out of seedless dirt,
Into fertile soil, well-defined turf,
A home for just the two of us,
A home for love to bloom with us,
But she took it all away,
Just as easily as it came...
Love always turns you upside down!
What once seemed perfect now is worthless,
What once put a smile on your face
Now quickly takes that smile away,
A grin to tears, in sixteen years
I still can't decipher what love is meant to do
For me...
The sun tears through the valley
As the morning arrives early and
The grass don't smile back, no no,
The grass just burns up, the sun burns it all,
And just as quickly as love came,
It's leaving a trail of vast debris,
Desecrated hearts and worn down fingertips,
Lips that even if a princess would kiss
Would still be chapped and feel like shit,
Because that's what love does when the slipper doesn't fit...
Love always turns you upside down!
What once seemed perfect now is worthless,
What once put a smile on your face
Now quickly takes that smile away,
A grin to tears, in sixteen years
