I was wondering can i still put my godmother's brother in jail even if i don't have proof besides a lil of my memory? It was when i was 5 years old when i got sexually abused and i don't remember much. Time to time i keep getting nightmares.No one knows about what happen to me besides some of my friends and my ex bf. Im just curious

We are by no means legal counsel, but rather people who have seen a lot of TV and the off chance person who has done something like this.

Now, from my perspective, you would need some kind of evidence. Personally, I dont think there is substantial evidence. A bit of memory and what you have told other people doesn't make much of a prosecution. It becomes his word versus their word.

The only thing that you could do, assuming its not too late that your state has laws by how soon a case must be filed to the offense, is file charges which automatically put them on the sex offender list.

Thought I'd come back to add that if it is bothering you in a big way, I highly suggest getting counseling. Don't shove something under the rug.

wait wait ur parents dont know? then obvi u cant press charges until they do.
anyway as an answer to ur question. probably the only way for him 2 b convicted is 4 him 2 confess or u hav some other evidence other than ur memory.

without evidence it's useless to report him. he won't confess and u'll hurt many people by ur unproven truth. still, u can't recall weather it really happened or not ;)

i'm sorry for what happened to you. unfortunately the information i have isn't good news. the statute of limitations on sex crimes dictates that the crime must be reported within 5 years of the event. aka, if you are 14, this happened when you were 5, they can't prosecute. those are the laws of new york. however it is never too late to get counseling, which i highly recommend. it helps with the nightmares.

yeahh he can, i got sexually abused from wen i was like 3, althoughh it went on until i was 14 the police are dealing with it now, but it still happened, and this man should be put on the sex offenders register, you need justice, this could be what the nightmaress are in aid off, maybe you shoud speak to someone about this? x

i guess if you haven't any evidence there is no case. it's normal to hold a grudge against him because of the abuse and i'm sorry that it happened. if you need someone to alk to im always here i hope this helps in a way .
