I told my best friend that I cut yesterday and she wasn't mad. She was upset, and I knew she would be. At first when I told her, I was so angry with myself I had to cut. I just sat and cried and hurt myself because I hated myself for being so selfish to tell her when I knew she's be upset. I know it hurts her to know and I still hate that I was so terrible to do that to her, but I feel so relieved at the same time. I feel so guilty for all of it. What kind of a friend am I?

You should talk to her. Personally I don't think you need to blame yourself. I agree with Disco that good friends do not need to keep things from each other, friends are there to support you. But if you still feel angry at yourself for upsetting her then talk to her and apologize for being selfish.

I would rather a friend tell truthfully then hide things from me.

she is your friend. she loves and supports you. she may be a little upset about it now but on the inside she is really glad you told her the truth. trust me. talk to her. and good job btw, it takes a lot of guts to talk to people about self-harm.

I talked to her and apologized for being so selfish. She told me she didn't think I was selfish and she's glad that I told her. (: I still feel kinda bad, but it's a better. Thanks, everyone.

I can tell you one thing. If she really cares, then do not feel bad. A friend will gladly take that burden to help you, a true friend will want to hear it, even if it's upsetting.
