Internet does not work!

Despite me being a mac user, I also use windows XP against my better judgement. I use a linksys USB wifi adapter to connect to the internet and in the last new weeks, the Internet has not been working. It says it's connected to the network, but if I open Firefox or whatever, it says there is no connection.
I tried connecting with ethernet and it does the same thing. Please help me as I don't really feel like re-installing.

Which operating system is giving you trouble: Windows, Mac, or both?
When did it stop working and can you remember what you did right before then?
Have you ever tried using a proxy server?
Have you installed something to anonymize your web connection?
Have you installed a firewall?

Haha thats what I thought when I saw the name of the post, but then I read what he said :redface:

The OS system that's giving me trouble is Windows XP, I do have a Firewall installed but I turned it off after the internet stopped working. I have no anonymizer software installed. It stopped working about 3 weeks ago. I can't really think of anything I did that would mess it up.

So you're using WiFi? Do you have a regular (wired) internet connection? Or a DSL router or something like that?

I use DSL and have a WiFi base plugged into a router.
