I only watch the auditions, Hollywood, and the Finals. Other than that its not that great.

Dislike it because all the singers do is sing a song someone else has made. There's no creativity in that and takes very little talent to be able to sing someone else's song without screwing it up completely. If it involved making original songs or music, then that's another story but having a glorified karoke is pretty lame as it doesn't show talent that will get you anywhere in the music industry. You need talent, which oddly enough is the one thing that is restricted when simply doing karoke.

Also, the only judge I actually care for is Simon, the other two seem to be so willing to let a person who is tone-deaf and cannot sing to advance to the next rounds and they don't give any useful commentary. In the finals, the judges scream and shriek a lot more, which is useless when you want commentary as to how well you did. But it gets boring having Simon as the only judge who actually has enough balls to not sugar-coat and distort the commentary, as well as someone who isn't willing to let anyone under the Sun advance.
