because if your cutting yourself and accidentally hit a vein you could die, but if your burning yourself with a lighter it would be impossible to withstand the pain enough to cause enough damage to treaten your life. at worst you could burn off a few layers of skin and go to the hospital

Anyways, they should 'freak' the same way because she's hurting herself. They should worry for her well-being, not how close to death she is.

not really, because with cutting u can just cut and cut. with burning, you can't willfully do it because your body reflexes from the pain too much

i do both actually..... but i suck so there is no point ...and hurting myself when i look at it after its like a reminder and soemhow feels less temporary

I never tried burning but i have tried cutting...and it just doesnt work for me....i no this sound terrible but 1 time i tried scraping off layers of skin....and no 1 cares cause people dont really think ur acctually doing it...people think u fell and scraped ur leg/arm (or wear ever) ! Its just as bad as burning and it hurts as much as cutting....1ce i took a screw driver and scraped skin...but im trough with harming myself! Now of i get angry or depressed..well i dont really do anything i just go work out and that releves pain!
