A word, like all words, that is a meaningless collective of symbols in itself, given meaning only by each individual consciousness which encounters it.

Now, it is an abstract concept, manifesting somewhat differently in each one, creatively molded and fitted into open spaces on the canvas of every brain's perceptions.

And, like all abstract concepts, interpretations and experiences of it can vary extremely.

What is it, in essence, on its own, independent of subjectivity? Why, it is everything which any mind has ever conceived and shared; it is whatever one sees it as.

This is what I think of when I see the word, and no more.
This is also why I avoid using it at all costs when describing my own experiences.

I aim towards a perception of complete neutrality towards ideas that I find too confusing and/or prone to notable distortion and bias in the process of understanding.

What about yourself; answer your own question? :)

I think love is grand. The love of friends and family that is. Romantic love is too chaotic and unnecessary.

What is love
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me no more
Oh, baby don't hurt me
Don't hurt me no more

What is love
Yeah

Oh, I don't know why you're not there
I give you my love, but you don't care
So what is right and what is wrong
Gimme a sign

What is love
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me no more
What is love
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me no more

Whoa whoa whoa, oooh oooh
Whoa whoa whoa, oooh oooh

Oh, I don't know, what can I do
What else can I say, it's up to you
I know we're one, just me and you
I can't go on

What is love
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me no more
What is love
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me no more

Whoa whoa whoa, oooh oooh
Whoa whoa whoa, oooh oooh

What is love, oooh, oooh, oooh
What is love, oooh, oooh, oooh

What is love
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me no more

Don't hurt me
Don't hurt me

I want no other, no other lover
This is your life, our time
When we are together, I need you forever
Is it love

What is love
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me no more
What is love
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me no more (oooh, oooh)

What is love
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me no more
What is love
Oh baby, don't hurt me
Don't hurt me no more (oooh, oooh)

Love is opening up to the one person that could destroy you and all you stand for, but praying they will not do that.

I think love is great, but it's also work. It takes a lot of work to be able to love someone and have them love you in return. You can't just be going out for 2 months and go around claiming that you're "in love" with the person. I'll use myself as an example. I've been with my current boyfriend for a year and a half. And it hasn't been all blissful. We've had fights and disagreements. Plenty of them. (I'm not trying to say we fight all the time cause we don't. You know what I mean.) But we try to work it out because we both know we have something special and we don't want to throw it away or give up. Sometimes he annoys me so much, I can't even think straight. Sometimes I do the same to him. But I don't know what I'd do without him.

Love is patient, love is kind. It has no envy, nor it boasts itself and it is never proud. It rejoices over the evil and is the truth seeker. Love protects; preserves and hopes for the positive aspect of life. Always stand steadfast in love, not fall into it. It is like the dream of your matter of affection coming true.
Love can occur between two or more individuals. It bonds them and connects them in a unified link of trust, intimacy and interdependence. It enhances the relationship and comforts the soul. Love should be experienced and not just felt. The depth of love can not be measured. Look at the relationship between a mother and a child. The mother loves the child unconditionally and it can not be measured at all. A different dimension can be attained between any relationships with the magic of love. Love can be created. You just need to focus on the goodness of the other person. If this can be done easily, then you can also love easily. And remember we all have some positive aspect in us, no matter how bad our deeds maybe. And as God said Love all

I think Love is a verb. Love is an action, not a feeling. You can Love someone even if you hate them. With acts of kindness, and just being nice to them.

Better definition;
" Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres."
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV)

Another version of the same verse, I like them both so I'm putting both lol.
" Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things."
1 Corinthians 13:4-7 (ESV)

A harmony so perfect,
A breeze so light,
A touch so soft, yet an unbreakable bond.

Love is melancholy yet a feeling so warm,
Confusing yet oddly understandable.
Love is different in every person,
A unique, signature glow,
What a feeling, to find love,
Only the boldest and strongest of hearts would know.

Love is not greed, jealousy or pride,
One of the few things unaffected by time.
Love doesn't judge or point fingers.
It brings out the good we keep hidden away inside.

A few words, a dozen letters,
A million fortune cookies from today,
Nothing could ever capture such a feeling.

So what do I think love is?
Even if I knew, I wouldn't be able to say!

Just a few corny sentences to pass the time :D

I think love is a pointless, overrated, waste of time. It's a word people over-use to get what they want. It's a word that one person may mean but the other one doesn't.

It's a pain in my ass.

Something that continously distracts you from real life, because you know you can never achieve your love.

love is confusing, but understandable
love is comforting, but can tear a person apart
love is amazing, yet the simplest thing
love is a sence of patience, but can make you go insane
love is endless and without fail.

you cant just give up on love becuase of one stupid relationship that lasted a month. yet you can never let it pass through your hands. its something you need its something we all need. its wat keeps us going through the hard times and through the pain. its the loving hugs and laughs from your friends and family. its looking into the eyes of someone you love by the light of a fire under the stars on a cloudless night. its the tear that comes down your face at the end of your first relationship. its something that will bring you peace when your eighty and sitting on your rocking chair next to the person you truely love. maybe you feel like it has giving up on you but i tell you truely it will find you when the time comes. dont give up and live life to the fullest while you can.

i really dont know how i got all that down but there you go. probaly the most poetic thing im ever going to write. i hope you understood what i was trying to say.

I don't pretend to know what love is for everyone, but i can tell you what it is for me. Love is knowing all about someone, and still wanting to be with them more than any other person, love is trusting them enough to tell them everything about yourself, including the things you might be ashamed of, love is feeling comfortable and safe with someone, but still getting weak knees when they walk into a room and smile at you, love is just a word until someone comes along and gives it meaning.

Love is why we do it,
Love is worth the pain,
Love is why we fall down,
and get back up again.
(Tehee, sorry. I love The Script...)

Love has two sides. One get's all luck the other gets the downfall at the end of it...
