Ok so I posted on someones topic that was older then a month and got yelled at for it and it got locked. Why cant we post on forums that are older then a month? whats the big deal? is it to 'last month' for you? First it was a good post and second there is no reason why so shouldnt be able/allowed to. So we arent allowed to post on anything older then a month so does that mean you expect us to see that an active topic is a month old and just stop posting on it because "its to out of date" in your opinion? If thats the case I have no reason to stay on this site. What if, since i'm a "newbie", I go on to a friends page and see an old topic that i find might help me with a problem and I want to post a question on it am I suppose to just clutter up your forums rehashing other users post just because the one I want to post on is a month old or do I post on it and wait to see which mod/admin it is that locks it and start something then?
Really it makes no sense and isnt very user friendly and if you are going to have such a stupid rule then you should send out a welcome message that says your not allowed to post on a topic.

No i dont take people telling me what i cant do so yes I did get snarky and no I'm not going to apologize. It may have been "out of line" but I spoke what I think and feel about the topic and would like to know why it is.
You can delete this if it so pleases you but send me a pm for why.

Theres a thread here that explains why. Its to cut back on spam really, also as Mercury said in this thread its to encourage new topics to be made. When a post is made on a thread that hasnt been posted on in under a month, you report it so a mod will know to close it. There is no reason why you cannot make a new thread, asking questions that you need answers to. Also, it doesnt hurt to look around the forum to see if there are any other threads about the current problem. If you need to post questions, show the link of the thread, then state your question underneath.

Aaron has said it all really. If your question needs an answer so badly try searching for another thread that already answers it before posting a new thread or bumping an old one.
Stickies are exempt from that rule. Stickies can be posted in no matter of the last post.
Most often if a thread has not been posted in for a month then the question has already been answered or the discussion has died. Therefore there is no good reason to bump it. Posting your question in a new thread is fine if that's the case.

If a thread hasn't been posted in in over a few weeks either the question was answered or the thread just died off. No point in posting in it. Follow the rules and the mods won't get angry at you.
