I think it is the ONLY thing that makes sense to do. 1) many other countries have integrated armed forces and they dont have any problem with it. 2) EVERY study I've seen says that it would not reduce the effectiveness of our armed forces. I think if there was any study that 1/2 proved this was a bad idea, those opposed would be making a big deal about it. The only thing that people can say about it is that they "feel" its a bad idea. Yeah, well grow up and look at RESEARCH. In a time when our country needs anyone who wants to serve, why should they turn people away?

the integration sounds a lot more complicated than it is. stop gays from having to lie. people will learn to deal with it like they learned to deal with people of color. that's it.

hum....MODS? This looks like a RoTW Topic more... Well, i think appealing it is right. Stops them from lying, yes, and there should not be a law saying, like, if you're out, you can't be patriotic and serve for the country in the army. That's just not right.

I think there shouldn't be a law. It shouldn't matter if you are gay or straight, if you want to fight for your country you should be allowed too.

Yes, definititly, if the politicians or who ever really deals with it has this logic that Gays, lesbians and bisexuals are weaker or inferior and cant fight for their own country, the people who make these decidcions need to be taught a lesson, maybe a bashing from a group of gay men. Im sure that a Gay male or a Lesbian female can fight off some terrorists just as well as a straight male or female.

Personally, I don't see the difference between this policy and homophobia, which is clearly wrong.

From what I've heard, the argument for keeping this policy is that if gays.bisexuals are allowed to reveal their sexuality, then there will be unnecessary sexual tension between many of the active duty soldiers, because some of the gays could be "viewing others as a sexual object."
This is completely false. In the military, it's all about getting the job done and done right. When you're on the battle field, do you think your fellow soldiers are going to care if you happen to like other men? No. You have to accomplish your mission, and then move on. Also, there already could be sexual tension between some soldiers because there are also females in the military, and straight men could be viewing them as a "sexual object." So, there is no point in having the policy.
