Something is wring with me. I'm tired and really down right now and all I want to do is bury my head in my pillow and cry. The problem is the tears won't flow and I'm just getting a huge headache from it. When I was younger I cried a lot and now o can't ever cry just hild it in and my head starts hurting. What's wrong with me?

I hardly cry, and when I do, this is pretty much what happens. I really don't think there's anything wrong.

Thomas, a nice mug of cinnamon tea always helps. That, and some sleep.

Love you. :)

I dont care for that "men dont cry" crap, its good sometimes its a great form of relief.

Sorry to hear you're feeling down like that Tom. What I find is that I cant cry on demand, when I think I should, it works to its own timetable and comes on me unexpectedly. Best wishes anyway.

I used to cry quite often when I was younger as well. Nowadays, it's pretty rare if I do at all. I'm a bit of a movie pansy, so that's an exception for me, but in terms of emotional distress, not really.

According to Dr. Sears (http://www.askdrsears.com/html/5/t051200.asp), "Studies have shown that babies whose cries are promptly attended to actually learn to cry less as older infants and toddlers." I would imagine that the same principle applies to young teenagers to older teenagers; if you tend to your distress correctly, you require it less when you're older.

It's all theoretical, but it could explain why we cry less as we get older.

I read that as Dr. Seuss I was ready for a rhyme -_-.

Anyways, I can see how it's a part of growing up like you get older and you don't have to cry as often but I can actually point out the exact moment when this started happening which was when I was 15 and my parents marriage was ending(I really didn't care though) and I was starting to learn some things that I didn't know. Then I stopped showing my emotions and just kept them in. Before then whatever I was feeling was right there for anyone to see, but now when I want to start crying again and just let some of this out it just isn't happening and it's just making me feel worse.

It likely correlates with an accelerated need to build a foundation for yourself. Like above, you settled your own needs, so crying isn't as common for you.

Heh. I found a bawww thread on "That Which Cannot Be Named" and it made me cry. Then a person made me cry the very next day. It had been about a year before that since I cried the last time. You could always get in a motorcycle accident. That works quite well.
