not at 16 unless there is a good reason, if doctors need to check, they may use their fingers, don't worry they wear gloves and use lubricant, they may use other tools though to get a better look

no not at 16. unless you present with a legitimate medical symptom that would indicate an issue with your prostate. it will generally be the same: checking the testicles for any pea-sized lumps or bumps and asking you to turn your head and cough (this is checking for a hernia) for most men at age 40 is when the first prostate exam is administered. this is the general age for prostate probelms to occur. but it can happen at any age.

Not at 16. You have 20 years or more to worry about that. Unless there is something majorly wrong with you, and they think they must check it, they will.

It's not illegal, just rarely done unless you have a problem like blood in semen or something like that. Heres a link

I think your friends are trying to scare you. If you do get it, it not too bad, just really awkward (havent had the exam, but did have to get suppositories once )Hopefully its routine and everything goes well...

You don't automatically get one at 16, unless there is a medical reason.
If they do have to look up there then they wear gloves and use lubricant.

Dude no doctor needs to perform that on you. I have had physicals twice a year since I was 14 and never had anything like that done.

I never had a rectal exam until I saw a urologist for--duh--a urological issue. And no, it's not illegal. If the doctor finds a legitimate indication for the rectal exam, he'll do it.
If you ever do have a rectal exam, it's a little weird, but not that bad. All he'll do is put on a glove, lubricate a finger, and feel around inside. You'll probably be bent over the exam table. It doesn't actually take that long. Just hope he lets you clean up before he hs your mom or dad come back in!

This might sound like a naive question, but don't you have a really sticky rectum when he's done feeling around in there?
