View Full Version : Murray blames defeat upon his underwear

Fans blamed his first serve, his youth and his all-powerful opponent, but Andy Murray has hinted that the reason he failed to break Britain's epic on court losing streak at the Australian Open final was related to something slightly more intimate.

When asked if he had a sore leg after he was seen rubbing his left hip repeatedly during the match, Murray, 22, indicated that he was actually suffering from an uncomfortable, and slightly embarrassing, wardrobe malfunction.

"It's not really a problem. It's not really my left hip," he said, choosing his words carefully.

"It's quite hard to explain."

Realising he was going to have to go into detail, a smile crept onto Murray's face which, ever since he lost the third set tie-break to Roger Federer, had been a picture of dejection.

"It's just when we play, I wear cycling shorts, and sometimes they're quite tight, so you need to, you know..."

A room full of sports reporters nodded along, not quite getting the point. Murray tried again, suggesting that the affliction was not uncommon among his contemporaries.

"Roddick does it a lot, it's kind of what Rafa does on his other side," he said, referring to Rafael Nadal's tendency to adjust his underwear after almost every point.

"I don't really know what I'm trying to say, but basically my hip is fine. It was just the cycling shorts were too tight."

Eh... what a failure. I despise Murray anyway.

In the world cup he supports Croatia.
In tennis he wants to be British...

I hope his testicles shrivel up and drop off.

Maybe he should try a pair of magical mormon underpants.

Excuses excuses, Roger Federer is better than him that's why he lost.

it was a good match, but that was a really bad excuse to loose.

First I thought the way Federer talked about Murray prior to the match was the bitchiest thing involved. But Murray has now topped it.

Meh, I feel bad for him, the UK puts such a ridiculous amount of pressure on him. It must absolutely suck. He's going up against the best of all time in Slams here. It's no piece of cake.

I'm sure he could find a nice pair a frilly panties to suit him. He only played the final coz Nadal is injured, and Federer is tons better than him
