As you all know, the government is spending a lot of money cracking down on marijuana(pot). But there are a lot more harmful substances out there suchas methamphetamine(crystal meth). Why all the effort over marijuana? It is in fact completely harmless when eaten, only smoking will hurt your body. It has medical uses too. This thread's purpose is to discuss what the government should really be doing with our money, so try to stick to that, and if the mods don't think this belongs in debate, please move to drug forum, but it will get more traffic here.

It isn't a gateway drug, nobody I know has used anythign worse than pot, and doesn't want to, it isn't a gateway drug. People don't seek the greater level of high, each drug affects you differently.

Why should the government tell me what I can and can't do? Legalise drugs. They can promote drug safety and teach people how to be safe with drugs, how to use them properly etc. They can also control what is in the drugs and they can make shit loads of cash in tax. It would significantly crush crime of all forms aswell.
So many benefits, legalise!

SHHHH that's dangerous thinking, musn't be too forward thinking. Although shrooms and pot, among some others would be ok to legalize, you can't have people goin nuts with them. I can't really think of a good way to control drug use afer legalization in order to keep people form goin nuts.

Thats what I am saying Kolte, the drugs wouldn't be anywhere near as harmfull if they were leagalised, the government could control how strong the stuff was and what it was cut with. They could teach people to use it safely etc.

fuckin waste of money "trying" to stop marijuana. its virtually impossible seeing as how the government only distributes it to medical patients which is less then like 0.000000001% of all the weed in the country.
