View Full Version : uTorrent hates my internet connection?

So this happened just recently. A few days ago, I turned on uTorrent without any problems. After about fifteen minutes of running, my internet connection just dropped out and I couldn't get it back. I restarted the router and did everything I could, but it's still happening. I don't have it on right now and I'm thinking of switching over to BitTorrent to see if that helps out any. Does anyone know what might be causing this problem? I've been thinking of forwarding a few of my ports, but I'm not exactly so sure...

I found that when connecting to too many peers or seeding at full speed killed my connection, I set the upload speed to like 1kb max and it seemed to help. I dont use torrents any more though, too unreliable.

My upload max is 124kb/s, so I guess I should lower it a bit. I'll probably be adjusting the settings and do a speed test, which should help I'd imagine. Any more help appreciated.

Probably some sort of wake up call telling you to stop committing piracy. :)
What you downloading out of curiosity.

I don't download officially released materials. I can support the artist myself. Plus, I don't download things like movies, tv shows, or anything like that. I mostly download live concerts from bands I like and I'll leave it at that. It's not piracy as long as it's not official if you ask me ;)

I would like to point out that there are many things out there on torrent sites that artists/developers WANT to be torrented.
Ubuntu for example, is available as a torrent.
The game, America's Army is available as a torrent.
I know there are a few bands who have released their content on The Pirate Bay.
There are many more, but none others that I can think of off the top of my head.
Torrents aren't illegal, torrenting isn't illegal.
What you torrent can be.

Torrents aren't illegal, torrenting isn't illegal.
90% of torrents, which are downloaded games, movies, programs, which were unpaid for. Downloading things for free like that is piracy.

Not to play backseat mod here, but can we get back to the topic? I'd really love some help with this.
