My friend has been bringning extasy to school, and I'm wondering the dangers of it

The official rap is that it's completely bad and most people bring it down to the bottom line that it's a controlled illicit substance in most countries.

Personally, I go with the evidence that it's no more harmful than alcohol, but there are thought to be some risks with it still as with anything in life.

You shouldn't be doing it in school though, really bad idea. It's also not a good idea to touch anything you get from the street, you can never guarantee the quality / purity of it.

There is definate scientific study's to back the claim that X does lead to brain damage. It is definately worse for you than alchohol.

Cool thanks, I'm quite interested to read anything I can about various illicit drugs as I'm working on a research project on them atm.

@ karl, everything in life is dangerous really. The main differentiation comes with what risks different people are willing to take from the evidence which seems the most valid to them.

Taking pills from friends is risky. My friend took a "pain pill" from a guy at school and had a seizure in her kitchen because it was actually for Schizophrenic patients that makes you sleep. Any mood altering substance can lead to harmful situations. Do your research on it before anything else :P

In terms of total overall harm, it's actually certainly less harmful than alcohol, by a long shot. Possible neurotoxicity is the worst reported side effect of ecstasy, which compared to the litany of physical damages from alcohol is essentially nothing.

I've actually read the studies about ecstasy and neurotoxicity. It's nowhere near as clear as you claim, especially because of the statistical interactions with significant polydrug use in the sample populations used in those studies. Regardless, it is definitely not worse for a person than alcohol.

Alcohol causes much more severe brain damage. The reports of severe brain damage about ecstasy were from now discredited studies riddled with methodological flaws.

See, this is the first really intelligent post here. The main danger with ecstasy is that ecstasy tablets normally contain a whole bunch of drugs in addition to ecstasy. This is a definite risk, as you cannot know what the pills are cut with.

I've read a book about X, and yeah, it CAN make you really horny, depending on the person.
