Okay, I hate cops, so I don't want to be a cop. Being an EMT takes a lot of education and training, and I'm not comfortable with doing that right out of high school.
So, I've been wondering, what does it take to get into fire fighting in Canada? Can anyone provide me with some information?

I'm not really sure, but you could ask around at the careers counseling center at your school. Some people took part in an academy or camp sort of thing to start becoming firefighters last year at my school. Ask around, man.

I don't live in Canada, but is this the info you're looking for (http://www.recruitfirefighter.com/page0003.htm)?

Usually all you probably need to do is pass High School, or get a GED. Just go to a fire station and ask that you would like to do the training. The same method goes for if you want to be a policeman.

Um, an EMT is just a fairly easy 1 semester long course.
To become a firefighter you will need to become an EMT in ADDITION to receiving training in firefighting, after that, fire jobs are quite competitive.

I'm an EMT-B/Firefighter in Maine. PM me if you have any questions as I have done a lot of training and may be able to help you out :)

Lol. Right away you find a thread on firefighting. ;)
Anyway. Getting that education to be an EMT will help you in the long run. Just because you don't feel like it (correct me if I'm wrong) shouldn't stop you. Do it, because you'll love it later in life.

Over in England, there is a course at college called public services. After that you can apply for either, police, ambulance (EMT) or fire service. Which you then do additional training with which ever field you pick. Is it the same over there?.
