OK, so on Saturday i was playing futsal and got kicked in the ankle, since than i've iced it, but its still swollen. Any ideas on how to get the swelling down faster?

Keep icing it and soaking it in hot water with epsom salt will help.

different things work for different people. i find that after icing it for a bit, i try to move it SLIGHTLY to keep the movement in my ankle. not sure if that will work for you too but thats what i do :)

Oh yeah, I try doing that aswell, sometimes. Well nothing is working, its still as fat as it was be4 ) : is there something wrong with my ankle?? :S

Just that you probably twisted it.

Try to keep it elevated, and you might want to wrap it (not so tight that you cut off circulation)

The swelling may be caused by a build up of lymphatic fluid. To get rid of this you need to get someone to message your ankle up along your leg hard to make the lymph fluid return to the lymphatic system. this may reoccur if u injury it again but it is the most common cause of swelling when an ankle gets injured. also you could use arnica gel and this will also help by rubbing it on ur ankle. But if the swelling persists for more then two weeks go see a sports therapist/physio to get it sorted

Flying[Star] - Yeah i reckon i did, it hurts like a b**** and it hasnt gone down that much and this is the 4th day :S

Lozzypop (love the name btw) - Yeah that helps heaps, Thanks. Ill get my step dad to do that when he gets home ( :. Well i reckon it will occur again, i play a fair bit of sport, so i'll remember that if it happens again ( :

has it still not gone down? i agree with lozzypop, if it still doesnt go down after a while go see a physiotherapists as it could be either a grade 3 or above strain which will mean u will need an xray, cast, etc. hope it helped

Yeah its gone down a fair bit, now its just a little bit fat but it'll be alright.
