24 hour time

Well, since those other jerks never gave me a chance to finish with this apparently impossible question...

I think I've got a fairly good grasp on how 24 hour time works after I epically phailed at understanding it in school last year, but I have two questions for those are familiar with it.

First, if it's 1:30 a.m in 12-hour time, how would you write it out correctly in 24 hour time? Would it be written 01:30, 1:30, 0130 or just 130?

Second, how do you verbally pronounce the time of day when you're using 24 hour time? I know 0130 would be pronounced "one hundred thirty (hours)", but how would do you pronounce any time between 00:00 and 01:00? I think I would sound like a total idiot if I said "zero zero".

You always say hundred hours

For example 14:00

would be fourteen hundred hours

In your case, 01:00

is o one hundred hours.

When there's a zero, you say o one hundred.

Why do people in America never learn the way of military time?? I mean like my friends over there in school say that they don't learn or or rarely use it..

I have a trick to work out 24 hour time to get it in to 12 hour time

EX: 13:00 if you take the first 1 away, (so you end up with 3:00) then you take 2 away from the number that is left (so, if now it's 3:00 [with the first "1" missing] you end up with 1:00, 13:00 hours = 1:00 in 12 hour time :))

I hope that will help you to work it out, I used to use this method all the time untill i learnt it off by heart! and now i know all the times YEY!!

i do! actually prefer it - seems like its easier....but ya, most ppl here in US like think its so hard for some reason & my exgf really didnt like my alarm clocks in myroom set on 24hr clock. i was always like - seriously! just subtract 12! - everytime she wd look check the time she would b!tch abt it then be like 'so what time is it for reals, not ur fake number time?'

ya, seriously. damn sad, rite? (o ya: shes a total blond, fyi) haha! ;)
