A tide that swept these littered shores clean,
Leaving virgin sands to sparkle in the sunlight.
In accompaniment, the glistening waters ahead,
Momentarily embraced by a salvaged purity,
Whispered soft greetings to the myriad figures

Now approaching, their footsteps carved gently
into the silent existence beneath them.
Some stooped down with sticks and bare fingers,
Intending to make their mark personal and concrete.
Testifying their communion with a wonder of the world.

Patient silence was their only reciprocation,
As arms reached out to behold the boundless sky.
Ripples in the lake below them, a glimmer of light
Briefly blinding the window to each longing soul
And they rather gazed within, to find a world illuminated.

Good company they were, these gentle people.
But as the sun bade its final farewell over the horizon,
Footsteps retreated swiftly, though some reluctantly
Immersed in solitude once more, the virgin sands now
Boast its taint and abuse under an unforgiving light of the moon.

I love this. I've always noticed this about beaches. The imagery is awesome. Thanks for sharing!
